Didn't help. I get a lag spike with the graphics and then things start to become a touch choppy. After that, the game freezes. I have just lowered the graphic settings to Medium to see if that helps. I am reviewing mods as well and have purged a few that are known to be issues or conflict together. I just find it odd that after about 20 hours of playing is when it starts to happen.

***UPDATE*** I did a bit of searching and decided to try turning on VSync. It seems to have stopped the freezing. I will continue to test as I get the chance and see if that is what I needed. Well I am back... I upgraded to this version and after playing on a new game world for about 18-20 hours the game is starting to freeze on me again. This was happening with the previous 1.21.4. I am not really sure what to do. It seems that I can play just fine for a while but once I hit a certain time frame of about 20 or so hours the game starts to hard freeze and I have to force quit. I guess it could be a mod that is doing it but it seems odd that it would take so many hours before it happens. I still can't get any real logs for the crash since I have to kill the process. Anybody else on a Mac with these issues still?

I have like 60 mods installed and honestly...I probably don't need much of them. I started to clean up the followed mods big time to remove things I have never installed or that I really don't need. I will try removing things especially that are older too that might not work with 1.21.x as well.

I will request that you stop being the voice of reason in this insanity. I have created the same seed (why not) but without any mods to see what happens. It usually takes about 15-20 hours before an issue starts to happen so I will have to play a bit to see if anything happens.

True...I will have to try that out too. The strange part is that it doesn't typically happen until I have a bit of time in the game and have explored. Maybe tonight I will give it a try without mods. Ugh... I haven't played vanilla in a long time but it is a fair test. I was trying to avoid that though.

@Echo Weaver Well even after adding the lines from Alex's file similar to yours I was able to only play about 5 minutes before the game hard locked and I had to force quit. I guess I will have to wait for a true fix for the game before I can play again. I might try to build a server and see if that makes a difference.

I am just using Textedit but it wasn't an issue before. So I am not sure. I just don't feel like opening XCode to make the edits. ***UPDATE*** So I just tried editing it in XCode and it seemed to take the changes and work properly. I will have to test it again in a few days and see what happens.

I am seeing tons of these errors in my client-main.log file. Not sure what it means though. Should I be concerned or not? Well ChatGPT tried to help but it seems I can't really make any changes to that json file without it failing to work. I am at a loss as to what the issue might be at this point. Maybe I should just try and go back to the file from Alex instead. Though it locked up there for me too. So maybe it has to do with one of the mods that I am running. I wonder if trying to run off of a server might make a difference.

No luck. Removing .NET and reinstalling from the link on this site made no difference. The game tried to launch but didn't work. I saw the Vintage Story icon but then it disappeared. Now it won't even open. It is not happy with that line from Alex that was added.

And this is why I am not a coder. I forgot to add a comma after the line for Alex's code. hehe. Once I did that it all worked. Of course it locked again even with that extra line in it. I just tried the code that you used and still no luck. The game won't launch for me. I might try to uninstall .NET from my Mac and reinstall it. I am running version 8.0.20 since I thought that maybe an upgrade would help.

When I add the line for Alex's json file to the one for this new version I can't even open Vintage story. The game just hard locked on me twice within a few minutes. Oddly enough...both times I was placing berry plants down at my base. Different ones but it froze. Of course it froze once before the above mentioned ones happened too.

I did a fast ChatGPT query (I won't paste the long responses here) but I have a feeling that the second line you added might be needed to prevent the freezing/pausing. I will add that to my game and see what happens. I wonder if having a lot of mods also impact this as well.

So after playing for about 1.5-2 hours it hard locked up again. I made some mortar in a barrel and the moment I made it (64 in total) the game locked up and I had to Force Quit it. So I am not sure what is happening. Afterwards I did notice a little bit of lag here and there and my fan was running hard core as well. I really wish that it would generate a log file so that I can figure out the issue or at least upload/post it. Thoughts?

Just an update to my above post about game freezing/locking up on my M4 Mac. It seems that I was able to play without issue for about 2-2.5 hours this evening. Not sure if the update to 1.21.4 fixed the issue or if it had to do with my removing all previous versions of .NET on my machine manually using directions from Microsoft. Either way remove 7.x and 8.0.17 seemed to help the issue and maybe this new update helped out. Either way... thanks for the update and I am glad that I can play the game again with out crashes.

I was getting hard freezes/crashing since updating when playing on my M4 Mac last night. I have to do more testing in the next day or two to see if I figured out a fix for the issue. I know that I played for about 2 hours last night and it hard locked 4 times and required me to Force Quit the game. I lost about 5-10 minutes of play time when it happened. I notice that the play time on the save also doesn't reflect almost any of the time that I have played on this world. I will post a new response in a few days when I get a chance to play again.

Maybe. The funny part is that it worked for an hour or so on the new world before it finally froze on me. I force quit the game and when I went back to load the file it say that it hadn't been played at all. I panicked for a minute or so but it loaded my save. Not sure what is going on but I am trying again. I downloaded the file from GitHub and renamed it. I will see what happens when I play next. Maybe something was odd with my file. I also removed the "backup" that I was keeping in the same folder so many that was part of the issue too. Two files with the same name but different extensions in the folder. I guess it could be related to a mod as well but not sure. I will still play even with the lag/stuttering if I need to before the full fix is done by the dev team.

So I tried this on my M4 Mac and it worked at first but now the game hard locks instead with the changes. I have to Force Quit vintage story. If I undo the changes, revert to backup file, I get the lag spikes instead but the game won’t hard lock. Not sure what to do about it.

I would love to have a way to track the mods that I am using in a single place to check for when there are updates. I would find this especially useful when there is a new big update. Something similar to the look/feel of Nexus Mods.

Can a DNS name for the network be used? I am asking because I opened the port on my router and it only gets directed to my server. The DNS name won't change for me even though my IP has the potential to change which is up to my ISP. -
I have a Pi 4 and below. I was just curious if somebody tested out the newer version 5. But I do agree. MicroSD probably can't cut it in terms of speed.
