  1. Nope. It required resetting the server every time someone ran into the issue. There were some real life stuff keeping me away and with the big update on the way at the time for VS, I eventually just shut the server down. I see they are changing to net7, so maybe once winter sets in I'll try getting back into the game. A work around might be scheduling restarts every twelve hours, but other than that I never figured out what was actually causing the issue. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
  2. Greetings all, I'm renting a server via G-Portal. Sometimes we run into an issue where we can't connect to the server. It fails at "Connecting to server, downloading data...0 kilobytes received". That's as far as it gets. There's no failures in the logs, and someone that's still on the server is playing just fine. When it starts happening, the only solution seems to be a server restart. Any idea what causes this?
  3. Possible bug. I've found a fair number of stumps that are further up the tree than they should be. They aren't spawning as the bottom wood block, but one or two up the tree.
  4. How about building beside a mountain? Grow your food at the base and store your food at the top where the temps are far lower, slowing the decay.
  5. Found another issue. With just this mod installed, it will crash to desktop if you open the handbook and look at the fur gloves recipe. If you need a log let me know.
  6. Can you define "intereact"? Do you mean right click on the chair? If so it's not working in 1.16.3. I can't seem to sit at the chair and start a game. The board is clear of pieces, so at least it seems to be trying to work.
  7. So I noticed that the sax doesn't do everything the knife does. Can't scrape hides for instance. Is this by design?
  8. I've tried VSync in off and on mode, and I've tried Optimize Ram in None and Optimize Somewhat. I don't believe I tried it in the aggressive setting. While changing video settings can mitigate the issue somewhat, it still persists. Under cntr-F3, the graph in the bottom shows a huge spike every second or so. Basic specs are: Intel i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20Ghz, 4 core 16GB of ram NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti It's an older machine, for sure, but not one I've had issues with running most games at decent graphic settings. I would love to upgrade, but when I started looking into graphics card prices last year I had to put that plan on the back burner. If you need more info let me know what you need. Thanks!
  9. Greetings, I'm experiencing an issue with stutter that seems to get worse the longer I play. There's a split second pause every second or so, and as noted it gets worse the longer I play. I have removed all mods, and it's still there. Even when I leave a world, it's happening on the main menu screen. At first I thought it might be a mod, but it's doing it at the main menu with only the main three mods active. I'm not sure how to even go about figuring out what is causing this. Video settings don't seem to have any effect. Here's a video of it stuttering at the main menu, and showing the mod list having everything deactivated except the three mods the game comes with. This is the same thing I experience while playing, it was just easier to capture it at the main menu.
  10. Does this add anything to terrain generation, or is it all based on mechanics? I'd like to know if it's worth adding to a server that's already existing.
  11. It's the speed. I think something is triggering the music incorrectly now. I experienced it again, but this time I was outside. I tested it a bit, and it didn't have to do with what blocks I was walking on or near. It just seemed to be related to the fact that I was walking. I attempted to turn down the music volume, but it didn't have an effect. It didn't get quiet unless I turned down the game sound level. Now I'm wondering if something is triggering some background music instead of say the sound for walking in armor. You wouldn't want a walking noise to be repetitive so you would vary it a bit. If something is triggering a music track instead, that would explain the weird tonal changes, especially when it seemed my walking had an effect on it.
  12. If you use three of the four rows in your picture instead with three different crops with a different nutrient type, you'd get more production out of it. Right now I'm planting three fields and leaving one fallow. N crops in one, P in the next, and K in the third. Every rotation nutrient is maxed out for what I'm planting in Terra Plata. It seems like you could be producing more, unless you don't want some onions and spelt to go along with your flax.
  13. You could always adjust the surface deposit setting for copper during world creation.
  14. Like when Amazon says your package will be delivered today and it shows up at 9pm.
  15. I've noticed that there seems to be spawn areas for certain mobs. I have any area that spawns a lot of chickens. By fencing it in, I now have a large amount of chickens. My guess is that whatever the spawning requirements are, they are met in this particular area so chickens spawn regularly there. Same with your desert wolves. Maybe there's a very small area that meets the wolf spawning requirements, so that spot triggers all the wolf spawns concentrating them.
  16. Recently I stumbled across an underground ruin of what I'd call a warehouse. It had a lot of aged logs which I promptly removed. I converted them to planks and replaced 3/4 of the flooring in my small keep. Now, when I walk around in the keep, the in game background music does this weird speed up and slow down effect that wasn't noticable at first because I don't have the volume for the music set very high. Now that I've noticed tho, I hear it all the time. Is this because of the aged wood planks or some other reason?
  17. The dowsing idea in the title wasn't something I was interested in, so I passed it over. Gave it a look on your suggestion, glad to hear they will sell maps. I still think connecting most to the cave systems would be a good idea. If the merchants will sell maps, I hope they increase the size of those ruins. If the pricing of everything else is any indication, you'll pay 20 gears for a map to a ruin with 3 gears and four seeds in it!
  18. I have a few suggestions for you if you feel drifters are too hard to tackle. First they only come out at night, so sleeping is easiest way to avoid them Make a straw bed, it's just dry grass. If you go to sleep at dusk, you'll wake up at dawn. You can even take it with you when you explore. I've slept in the open in the wild and not had any drifters attack me in my sleep, but to be safe build a dirt hut. If you do find yourself getting drifters because you're out after dark, turn and run away with the run key. They are easy to escape from. Keeping on the move helps too. If you have problems around your base, build pit traps that are two blocks deep around your base to catch the drifters. Then when the sun is up, use a spear to kill them as it keeps you out of their reach. I've found pit traps next to the fence around my crops catch a lot of rabbits too.
  19. I've been reasonably successful using the propick to find the chunk that has the highest percentage of the ore I'm looking for and digging bore holes straight down. Very high or ultra high seems to be the most successful. I'd say I'm hitting the ore 25% of the time in those. Not ideal, but it works. Dig bore holes in the chunks surrounding the highest concentration, and if you don't find it give up on that one and move on. Just don't take anything with you that you can't stand to lose. You might fall until a cave system full of drifters or hit lava. Granted, this is for ores that generate in large quantities, meaning most tool metals. I haven't been successful finding gold or silver with this. It did work for peridot, or whatever the green gem is.
  20. I've seen them in underground ruins in spectator mode. The problem is most underground ruins aren't attached to cave systems so you'll never find them. I've also seen merchants selling them. I think it was a luxury merchant and only encountered that type once.
  21. While in spectator mode I noticed the vast majority of underground ruins aren't connected to cave systems. This makes them basically impossible to discover in survival. I'd like to suggest making all underground ruins attach to an existing cave system during generation. That way there's at least a chance to find them during exploring. They will still be rare because a lot of the cave systems aren't easily found, but at least you'd have a chance of stumbling across most of the underground ruins.
