About how it goes. Only some pocket change, pocket lint, and a bent paperclip at the cost of armor durability + time in wasted each storm. Maybe a temporal gear but have found more of those off regular drifters than anything storms have thrown.
-
You might see it as a nuisance, however, some may see it as free sticks!
-
They feel excessive for how little gain it is for actually standing out in a storm battling monsters. Currently the only strategy for me is to stand in a 2x1 hut with a door on it afk until the storm blows over.

Tyron basically told us in this thread that everything on the roadmap, including the next chapters in the game, may never exist. If it's on the roadmap it's not promised so it's not a roadmap at all. Just a pipedream of potential possibilities.
-
Ah nice, so it's mismanagement of the team and their time spent on their own miscellaneous side quests instead of given tasks or milestones to accomplish that work towards the now pipe dream that is content listed on the roadmap. Glad he, in pic related, got ingot molds to be put onto shelves though because that was so important over a handful of other items the community wants. Going through the suggestion thread I can only find a few relating to pie and cheese wheels being allowed on shelves but that's really a no brainer. The ingot molds on the otherhand...

Perhaps you're right and the Adventure Mode hytale clone will be on the same engine, that still does not detract from how a lot of us basically want this @Mathathian's summary:
-
You must have glossed over what has been said by others and myself in previous posts which is fairly disingenuous when trying to extend an olive branch. It would have been better if you just left better off alone. It would be better if the new staff was put on Vintage Story as a whole for the time being, improving on the current game they are selling then as they get closer to content completion slide into a new project. It is as simple as that. There's no way to cross improve combat and AI between the two games that will allegedly be different. One game will change or they will be stuck trying to improve both said subjects in both games instead of just one. Only time will tell how this plays out, not you trying to fan the flames of valid criticism.
-
It's actually a valid argument against the whole charade of why it would benefit Vintage Story. If they plan on using a Hytale Adventure Mode to help improve the combat system and AI then would that mean overhauling Vintage Story combat and it's combat gameplay as a whole? Or will the new Hytale Adventure Mode be ran on the same engine Vintage Story is but just a reskinned modded version? If case one then the entire combat system is being changed to be as cartoonish as it looks in Hytale. If case two then in the time it takes for them to work up to combat in new Adventure Mode they could have sorted out the solution in Vintage Story itself without side-questing into a new project. You were never going to side with the opposition regardless of what arguments are made. What you're responding to is a response to why Tyron started Vintage Story and not a Hytale project a long time ago. Anyways, there's no use for further discussion from my part. Most of my skepticism of this move has been aired. Wish more people weren't complacent due to the hours spent they dunked into the game. I hope this doesn't end poorly for Tyron and team. Our criticisms are more than fair for those bashing us over it.

When Tyron started VS, Hytale was already in development? There is this thing called copyright infringement and making a hytale like clone doesn't do so well for an independent start up studio. Comparing different titles to Vintage Story in steam is comparing apples to oranges. Some $20 games are great, some aren't. Songs of Syx is a great game and has about as much content as Vintage Story but in a different capacity.
-
If they can't manage to improve upon enemy AI and Combat in Vintage Story they won't be able to do it with the nu-Adventure Mode Hytale-esque game they have in mind as a side project. Some of us would rather just see the new staff being hired added to the Vintage Story roster and see what they can get done with the extended manpower vs them being redirected right off the rip to a new out-of-the-blue project. Best case scenario is updates remain consistent as they have been, worst case scenario VS gets abandoned completely since Tyron did work on Hytale. Who is to say he did or does not enjoy it more as a project over Vintage Story? The announcement of a fresh game is a slippery slope as over time more time and manpower can be redirected to new game over VS slowing down updates even more without the community being none the wiser. We know not what goes on behind the scenes but this attempt at transparency isn't as great as some would believe it is. A lot of the dissenting voices and myself included have seen companies go down this road just to fail miserably but sure, go ahead and blindly trust Tyron along with his developers at Anego Studios. No developer team or game studio has ever in the history of the gaming industry ever screwed over it's player base.
-
There are eight chapters more or less expected to be implemented in the game let alone other content along the road map still yet to be added. We only have roughly three chapters with some additions coming in the 1.21 update. Think it's more prudent to keep on the route adding to Vintage Story with the full team then trying to have a side project going. Once more chapters are out and expanded content. An adventure mode isn't needed to test content, if that's the case in begs the question of the competency of the developers being hired with the engine VS runs on. Hytale got ambitious and crashed. It can happen to Anego Studios as well (unless Tyron some how has some wealthy backer or money himself to keep the studio afloat through hard times). Focus on what made the VS successful.
-
Or... have only one team working on a singular project which is what most buyers of this game want. Picked this game up for its design, crafting system, the success milestones feel like and pretty certain a lot of others did too. Didn't pick it up so a side-project could be made to create an Adventure Mode to cater to players from a defunct, poorly managed game that couldn't make it out of a development cycle. In the end there's no enthusiasm here for this move as it means a potential slow down of updates towards the actual game. Will have to wait and see.

Paid $20 for Vintage Story and in the hopes you continue to update that base game improving upon it's lore and content. First and foremost priority should be to the player base that has purchased your game for Vintage Story, not for Hytale or it's aesthetics. It's bad enough there's barely an update every six or so months. Don't kill the game or slow update roll outs for it simply to cater to a new influx of Hytale players. Modders will fill the void and make the overhauls for Vintage Story into a Hytale-esque game if the will and want is there.

It's not something that Hytale alone did. Minecraft also implemented the villages in random gen spawns. It doesn't need to be crazy villages like the lore one and certainly not take the top of the list of priorities but as lore is expanded on sure the possibility of more villages of smaller size could be feasible especially considering that lore itself can be checked off for world gen.
-
This is more along the lines of what was being said, or at least tried to in the previous post regarding the server/world gen settings. Since lore content is optional toggle maybe an adventure/settlement like you are suggesting could be possible. Also, there are quite a few mods that add a bit more to the world: betterruins, the fantasy monster mods, and quite a few more @EXPENSIVECASHEW. Probably isn't what you had in mind to use mods but in the iterim those mods actually make the game feel a bit more populated despite lack of actual npc villages.
