  1. I'm asking out of pure desperation, though I'm assuming the answer will be no. I've died while having my journal on me, that I've been writing in, for a number of in-game months now and because I couldn't make it back to my corpse in time, it looks like it has despawned. Does anyone know of a way to savescum it back, or check in the save file for the contents or something? I've tried quitting the game without saving, but looks like the game made an auto save at a moment, where the item was already gone. I this is just part of my story now...
  2. People mentioned the trade-off between fun and realism (or I sometimes like to look at as realism vs authenticity) and I think another good example is prospecting. Nothing about how that is implemented is realistic, but if it were, it would be absolutely mind numbingly tedious. So it feels somewhat authentic while not being realistic. I was also disappointed, that the new update only affects higher tiers of tools which I don't even have access to on my current save, but I'm assuming that the system will be expanded upon in the future. At least the handbook entry implies there will be more liquids to quench in and I assume the other stuff will be expanded aswell
  3. Thanks for the inspiration. Didn't want to pick the same seed, but I've been on the lookout for a good setting with big oceans (but also not too small islands) to make use of the new boats and this works quite fine. Got a tiny starter island and an enormous continent to the north, that's more than I could have asked for.
  4. A while ago I remember having a very specific map in mind, that I wanted to generate and the parameters that you can set like Landcover and Landcover Scale all just felt very unintuitive (though this wiki page with the examples would have certainly helped if I had found it back then). So it was a very tedious process of tweaking the parameters, loading into the world, enabling noclip to fly around a bit and seeing if it looks like what I had in mind and going back to step one until I had something I liked. I was wondering if this process could be streamlined by having an optional map preview that you could display while entering the parameters. Something similar to what Factorio offers for example: So you could see at a glance how the parameters you enter, affect the world you'll get. I assume a possible counter to this might be, that Factorio's map generation is a lot simpler and in 2D, so generating a chunk of the map on the fly is very simple compared to Vintage Story, but I still wanted to throw the idea out there to see if it finds some resonance.
