You may need to google the definition of origin story, kid. Anyway, you start the “shade” then threaten to cry to the admins when it comes back to you? You’re deluded, lil bro. You’re the one who waits to respond to me within seconds every time I respond. Seems like harassment to me lol

Waiting with baited breath for me to comment, salivating, hands shaking, heart pounding... waiting to reply.

lol your feelings got hurt

Spears are 100% better as they allow you to kill them without taking any damage, consistently.
-
Sorry man, you're just doing it wrong.
-
So here's a quick example of it. I accidentally had my black bronze spear selected even though I mate a flinty just for the occasion but I think it's pretty obvious that the method can be used pretty much indefinitely.

Ok so in another thread I explained how to fight wolves and I figured I should put a guide up so more people can understand. I see a lotta people complain about wolves, especially on reddit. It's really so simple it feels silly to make this a guide but based on the amount of times I've seen people emphasize the threat wolves are to them I guess I'll just do it. Ya just use a spear and sprint sideways, circling the wolf while you stab it. They can't adjust to the movement quick enough to hit you. Obviously the better the spear the easier it is but it really isn't hard to avoid getting hit even a single time. Multiple wolves aren't much harder as they just can't handle the lateral movement. You just vary the size of the circles and maybe mix in a figure 8 here and there. Unfortunately this renders wolves as virtually zero threat but I guess they can surprise you in the woods every once in a while. Here's a quick and dirty example of it. I accidentally selected my black bronze spear instead of my flint but I think it still gets the message across:

Ok so a lotta people seem to have trouble with wolves. They are absolutely no threat if you know how to fight them and it's incredibly easy. Use a spear, sprint sideways around the wolf while you stab it. It will never land a single bite if you do it right and it isn't hard. I kinda wish they weren't so easy as this method has erased a cool threat of the wilderness in the game. It's really not even much harder to take on a whole pack as they do not have much of an answer to the strafing. To take on more you just need to vary the size of the circles and mix in some figure eights. I guess I could make a guide so more people can see this.

Yeah. Personally, I set my tool durability to 150% for my runs. Seems to make more sense to me. Also HP +5 to 20 and move healing down to 50%. I don't feel I should be easily killed by a fox but also shouldn't heal from a tough battle in just 24 hours. And always, always, always permadeath. Without risk the rewards mean nothing to me.
-
Yeah, I will be creating plenty of backups. The reason I was so emphatic is because I play permadeath and I've been doing arctic starts where I spawn around latitude 75 or higher. In my current playthrough I was on the verge of starvation while also freezing to death on my first day but luckily spotted some ruins off in the distance. Ultimately I found some good stuff in a dungeon there which put me in a position to build a raft with a chest and begin heading south. From there I've been making some great leaps and bounds by way of some very lucky finds and I had progressed so much to even having a sailboat that it would have been such a sin for a run like that, where I went from almost perishing in the frozen wastes to the heights I've reached. Good times, man.

Nah I didn’t take offense to anything. I just didn’t know if you saw my post about how the rollback didn’t work or if you saw my edit where I updated that it, in fact, had. Strangely, though, I’m pretty sure I was running mods when that error was thrown. But this is all relatively over my head so take that for what it’s worth. Regardless, thanks again. So much.
-
Wait, did you see my edit??? I mean I am so incredibly grateful to you, Thorfinn. I really cannot overstate it. It may seem trivial but because of the experiences I've had on this playthrough it just means so much to me. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to address my problem. You're my hero.

So I did as recommended and rolled back to 1.20.4 Crashed again upon loading the save but the error message is a bit different. Any thoughts? EDIT ! ! ! --- So, on a last ditch kinda shot I deleted the other, remaining files in the save folder. The files other than the VCDBS regular (I'm relatively outta my depth here) save file. And when I attempted to load the save it FRIGGIN WORKED!!! I really don't understand this stuff well enough at all to have any idea but some step(s) of the process of rolling back worked. I have no clue which part exactly, but I'm back in my world, Pangeana, and I get to keep discovering these absolutely incredible structures and I'm just so grateful to you, Thorfinn. Without you I'd have been screwed. Thank you SO MUCH!.

Thanks very much. I’ll try that. So is it possible to pick up a metal rod by destroying a bookcase? Also, how do I do that?
-
I've tried again without mods loaded and it still crashes on the attempt Please, anyone. I can't believe my luck with finding such a huge, glorious castle! Check it out!

So I was playing a few minutes ago and I was in an enormous castle a la Better Ruins. I was in a room on an upper floor and I was destroying a bookshelf up against a wall, searching for hidden passages. The bookshelf block broke and either when I picked up the block or when I went to re place the block back in it's spot my game crashed. Attached is the error message I got. I tried to run my save again and it crashed without loading in. I tried to run it in repair mode and it crashed again. Does anyone have any insight as to what the issue is? I run a few other mods but nothing that was likely interfering at the time. Carry On, Easy Elk, Metal Recovery, Step Up, Villages, The Dung3on...

Unfortunately this bug seems to be getting worse, not better. Even with this last update purported to fix it the frequency of the occurrence seems to be increasing on my single player games. Love the game but hoping for this issue to be rooted out sooner or later.

Yeah, I was just confused because the irl wiki for cattails seems to indicate they can be found as far north as the arctic circle. All good, though. I did end up finding enough to make hunter packs, which was my initial goal. But I am curious if there’s a way to find out what latitude they will naturally generate in game. Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
-
So I started a playthrough beginning in an "icy climate" - aka - north of latitude 75. I'm just wondering at what latitude cattails can be found? I can't seem to find that info anywhere... Thanks, in advance.

This is one of the silliest things I've read lately. It's ok to be wrong. No big deal. I doubt we're gonna see persistence hunting in the game anytime soon. Furthermore, hunting generally relies on one quick type of attack to kill or incapacitate the animal. That doesn't work for most animals in the game. So the primary dynamic used for hunting, that is to say the most common way by FAR, is not possible in the game. So that's kinda why your post didn't make any sense. It's just silly.

When a chest burns, it should drop the metal pieces
Dubbs Malone replied to NathanielPillar's topic in Suggestions
I think it's probably more trouble than it's worth to try to parse apart every piece of metal inside every chest that burns. Just to make it more realistic to people who accidentally set their whole house on fire. A pretty niche function for a rare, foolhardy mistake. I'd guess Tyron is putting effort into more pertinent things. -
Thorfinn, can you make any sense of your post for me? Every word of it seems nonsensical. For one, we're talking about the game. For two, you claim they're easier "to herd" than chickens. None of that makes any sense. Can you elaborate for me, please?
-
Well I wouldn't recommend hunting the gazelle I hunt on foot. They're be half a mile away in a heartbeat if you get anywhere near them.
