Age of Ruin — Season Two Vintage Story | Dark Fantasy Role-Playing Server Welcome to Age of Ruin, a public dark fantasy role-playing server for Vintage Story. Age of Ruin is built around survival, immersive storytelling, and player-driven narratives. Our world provides a setting for players to develop their own characters, establish settlements, form alliances, wage wars, and shape the history of the server through their actions. Whether you choose to live as a wandering merchant, tribal warrior, noble, mercenary, outcast, or something far darker, the direction of your character and their story remains in your hands. A Custom World Built for Role-Play For Season Two, we have once again created a custom 8,000 × 8,000 map designed specifically with role-playing in mind. The landscape features distinct regions intended to encourage exploration, settlement, trade, conflict, and natural interactions between players. Our goal is to create a world where communities develop organically and the actions of players have lasting consequences. Player Freedom and Server Rules We believe in maintaining fair, reasonable rules that protect the role-playing experience without unnecessarily restricting players. There are no forced character deaths, and players are given considerable freedom in how they develop and portray their characters. We encourage organic role-play, meaningful conflict, and cooperation between communities while maintaining fair and consistent moderation. Our staff are committed to providing an environment where every player has an equal opportunity to participate in the world and contribute to its ongoing history with minimal staff events/intervention to allow the players to tell THEIR stories how they choose to. Mods and Gameplay Season Two will retain much of our original modpack, with adjustments for outdated or incompatible mods alongside several new additions. Our modpack expands upon Vintage Story's existing survival mechanics while introducing additional opportunities for character customization, combat, trade, settlement development, and role-play. An Established Role-Playing Community Age of Ruin enters its second season following a successful first season and the continued support of our community. Our administration brings years of experience across various online role-playing communities. That experience has helped shape our approach to server management, with an emphasis on impartial moderation, player independence, and allowing stories to develop naturally. We intend to continue building upon the foundation established during Season One while incorporating community feedback and improving the overall experience. No whitelist, open to all RP skill levels Age of Ruin is a fully public server with no whitelist or application process. Players of all experience levels are welcome, including those who are completely new to role-playing. We aim to maintain an accessible community where newcomers can learn alongside experienced role-players. Season Two will also expand upon our existing world lore, introducing additional history, locations, and opportunities for players to become involved in the ongoing events of the world. Lore information and updates will be available through our Discord. Season Two - Now Live Season Two launched on October 11th, 2026, with a fresh world and a new beginning for the community. We have also recently released a major content update introducing additional RPG elements, expanding character development, and providing new opportunities for players to immerse themselves in the world. With new settlements being established nearly every day, the landscape of Age of Ruin continues to evolve as players form communities, develop their territories, and establish their place in the growing world. Welcome all who wish to join us! This is the start of a Fantasy Role Playing Vintage Story experience, and we want you to be a part of it. Step into a harsh, living world shaped by survival, storytelling, and player driven narratives. Whether you are a wandering trader, tribal warrior, outcast, or something far darker, there will be a place for your story here. What will separate our server from the rest? Our server will feature a custom built fantasy map designed to feel immersive, dangerous, and alive. We aim to create a world that encourages exploration, conflict, and meaningful role play. We believe in fair, non overbearing rules. There will be no forced character deaths and no unnecessary restrictions on how you choose to play your character. Your story is yours to tell. We will also be running a streamlined modpack. No bloated installs with hundreds of mods. Only carefully selected additions that enhance the experience without overwhelming it. Everything added will serve a purpose and reflect what our community actually wants. Why pick our role play server over another? I have personally been part of many role play communities across multiple games, and one of the biggest issues I have seen is favoritism and poor treatment of loyal players. That is not how we operate. We come from a Project Zomboid role play background where we have always stood by one core principle. Everyone gets treated equally. No favoritism. No cliques running the show. Just a fair environment where players can build stories and actually enjoy the experience. What type of server will this be public or whitelist? Our server will be fully public. We do not believe in gatekeeping role play. Whether you are new to RP or a veteran storyteller, you are welcome here. Our goal is to build a thriving, inclusive fantasy world where all levels of role play can coexist and grow. We are aiming to open on April 10th which is about two weeks from now. Right now we are in the process of building, testing, and refining everything to make sure this server is the best experience it can be.
