  1. Hopefully there will be some movement changes when they make a combat overhaul. Reducing or disabling your ability to sprint backwards and sideways would make combat more of a commitment. I'm using the No Backwards Sprinting mod right now The rest here is a new player impression I wanted to post somewhere else before I found this fitting thread: Bears and hunting Enemies being only "smell based" and not requiring line of sight doesn't feel immersive and it's unsatisfying in gameplay where on one hand you can run/sneak up to a wolf facing me in an open field and it takes multiple seconds to react, and on the other hand the occasional bear randomly wandering close to you will detect you through trees and hills and rip you to shreds. Eventually i accepted that anytime I'm not in an open field I just have to hope there are no predators around. Also The footprint mod helped with this, as well as with hunting, a little. I'm not sure how effective sneaking to avoid spooking game is but having to uncrouch to change elevation seems like a problem
  2. World Generation, landform scale, maps, diversity I play with the standard 550ish or an even longer viewdistance and I would really prefer If i was able to see more landmarks and different landforms on the horizon. Having to travel far to see a change in scenery is sapping some of my joy of exploring. A more compact, faster changing map is more interesting to me. Even with the smaller polar distance settings it's a massive undertaking to travel to a latitude that's different enough in temp. Also, I like the immersion of having to remember landmarks to navigate and finding your way even without a map. That's why I turned the map of and later installed a cartography mod with a compass and maps I can't use straight away. But with the vanilla worldgen this into a real survival challenge. As a new player I'm still figuring out how to modify the game to my preferences but I really don't like default map generation Vintage Story is going for a much different worldfeel than TOBG but I can't imagine I'm in the minority for wanting a more arcade-y and less realistically scaled world generation as a preset of options. What's your take on this?
  3. the modlist not having any groupings or tag options is a real pain
  4. As a new player that hasn't played earlier versions of the game i like berry bushes. It's a tiny bit hard to spot if the berries are ripe yet but I like how pretty and varied they look and that they blend into the background and you can always just hold rightclick to see if you can pick them without reading all that. On the topic of "all that" I tried relocating one like in MC and moved on when it "broke" since I had more pressing things to do, but I'm sure I could grow some cuttings at my dirt shack that doesn't exist yet eventually when I look it up in the guidbook or read descr. Cuttings with different traits taking up inventory space is a valid concern but I think it's fine that it discourages replanting them early in the game when you don't know what you're doing yet since there are many more exiting food sources with immediate payoff. Even planting wild seeds and finding out rabbits ate your crops while you were asleep is a more fun payoff for the first few days. I like that it takes multiple days to regrow and they can't be replanted easily, after a few days it's nice seeing them/adjecent onces bearing fruit. Speaking of easy fast and infinite food, have you tried fishing? Get grunting
