Hot Crucible cant hold

I heated up my copper but when I take the hot crucible out of the firepit, my character throws it on the ground and I take health poing hits. How am I supposed to pour the molten copper into my mold when I cant hold the hot cruvible?

Craft some tongs and hold them in your off hand

The recipe is in the handbook. You will need them to handle anything hotter than 300°C.

I wish I could hold stuff that's 299°C with my bare hands IRL
