Draconic_
I will start off by saying I usually play mostly in creative and like building Big Things, so I tend to generate my worlds with large height. This one and the last few are 1152 blocks high. If that's the problem then feel free to skip the whole post and tell me. Anyway hi guys I haven't played in a year or so, maybe a bit more. Long enough ago that there weren't oceans or geologic features on world creation. I've been noticing lately that a lot of terrain has been generating like this (image provided below). Looks like someone took the normal Vintage Story terrain and just absolutely blasted the hell out of it with noise. Is this just how it's working in the current version? Is this affected by the geologic features setting in world creation? I tried turning that off in a test world but it didn't make a difference. Like I said at the top I use extra world height for fun so that might be doing it, I don't know. I also disabled all of my mods (y'know, since they've been out of date for like a year) but there might be phantom code in there somewhere making the terrain generate weird? No idea. Thanks, if anyone has answers.
Draconic_
Brief update. After this post I made a world with default height, then made another one with the same seed and same settings but with world height 1152. It appears the problem is the world height, so I guess if anyone else is having this problem there's your answer. I'm guessing maybe it's just the terrain generation in this version (v1.18.15 (Stable) according to main menu) since it didn't do this in older versions. VaelophisNyx
Mayhap you should try out either of these mods: https://mods.vintagestory.at/plainsandvalleys https://mods.vintagestory.at/fieldsandplateaus these both smooth the world out, more so on taller worlds But yeah that generation seems...off
Streetwind
Yes, it absolutely is world height. The game does not currently offer proper support for full, regular gameplay in world heights higher than 256. You can choose to play in them anyway, but you'll have to deal with the issues that come with it, including warped terrain generation, temperature by elevation not scaling with world height, weather effects not scaling with world height, and others. In practical application, I recommend no higher than 384, where these issues are already noticeable but still minor (as long as you don't build your house on a hill). If you wish to build huge, I recommend doing it in a creative superflat world.
