iwanfishz9 Posted March 30, 2024 Report Posted March 30, 2024 (edited) I killed a dead wolf pup and I can't harvest it with my flint knife. Does the terrain have anything to do with this because it body is inside a river and if so how do I drag it out? Edited March 30, 2024 by iwanfishz9
David Jacobik Posted November 30, 2024 Report Posted November 30, 2024 I've been having this issue so far? What did you end up figuring out iwanfishz? Ironically, I indeed want a fish I speared but can't harvest.. also a deer too now. Any suggestion?

First you'll need a knife, then you just hold shift + right-click on the corpse. Continuing holding both down until the harvesting animation finishes and the "loot box" appears with whatever goodies the critter had to harvest. Important to note: fish do not always drop meat. If the harvest animation finishes for a carcass but no loot window appears, try moving closer to the carcass, perhaps at a different angle, and right-click again. It should bring up the loot window; I have this issue with moose sometimes and getting closer typically fixes it.
Thorfinn Posted November 30, 2024 Report Posted November 30, 2024 In my experience, if the crosshairs do not change to red, you have to move closer. You may also have to first clear things that are in the way, usually grass, or in the water, seaweed, cattails, lilypads, etc. You can try walking into the carcass and making it move some -- all you need is enough so you can get red crosshairs on some part of it. 2
