Reed Chest Storage Issue

I'm a few hours into a custom survival mode playthrough, and I made the reed chests & the extra inventory slots aren't showing up. :c 

 

I only have 2 tiny client side mods installed that are up to date. Any guess as to what's up?

Welcome to the game! 

The reed chests are for ground storage, not for extending the inventory of the player. You need to make the reed baskets for this purpose

Tagging on to what @xXx_Ape_xXx said about the reed baskets--you'll need to arrange the reeds in all three bottom slots and the left and right middle slots to form a U shape. You'll need 2 reeds per slot, for a total of 10 reeds per basket.
