Rook_Maevsch Posted August 2, 2024 Report Posted August 2, 2024 I've played Vintage Story for a good few hundred hours by now. But I've only just decided to really dig in and try to build a world I can enjoy. This is my first proper go with the chisel, of which I've burned through many by this point. Still have a long ways to go, though. I want to add some more buildings to really make it feel like a little town and I still have two floors of the castle to decorate. What do people think? 5 2
Thorfinn Posted August 2, 2024 Report Posted August 2, 2024 More self-control than I have to leave those choice trees and seek out forests outside your view distance. As I've said to others, I have no artistic side. My only attempt at chiseling was hideous, and I've never repeated it, but I do like to see what others can do. (It was so hideous that I deconstructed the whole thing, threw it into a cave where it would despawn, then did a Schneier-approved wipe of the file, followed by an ATA Secure Erase. No one else will ever be burdened by that offense against aesthetics. It dies with me.) 3 3

For some reason, I chose Walnut as the primary wood type for my work. Which in this region was really, really scarce. That. And I don't really have a reason to chop the Redwoods down yet. I still have charcoal left over from my first batch, which I fired like, 40 hours of game time ago. The key I find for chiselling and building in general is to use reference images. The chairs in the great hall for example, were based on these.

I really ought to get back to building in my world, but I get distracted way too easily.
Rook_Maevsch Posted August 7, 2024 Author Report Posted August 7, 2024 A little update to the town, with the addition of a Storehouse and Tailors. First time I've ever bothered making dyed cloth, or a set of Reindeer Herder clothes. But I'll at least be set for the coming winter~ 1
Rook_Maevsch Posted August 9, 2024 Author Report Posted August 9, 2024 Another update, this time I built a claymaking and firing house. With the aid of the Beehive Kiln mod. As well as a chiselled tunnel leading under the keep. 3 1
MonkeyDaisy Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 Looks great! I love the great hall with the galleries, and the little plaza with the village buildings. Looking forward to seeing where that tunnel goes.
