Minister Kosh Posted November 4, 2024 Report Posted November 4, 2024 Hi, I'm new to the game and as I'm getting older I'm more susceptible to motion sickness in games. In my case it is mostly triggered by any camera movements that are not activated by me directly. Most of the time this is not an issue (Minecraft f.i. never was) but there are some features in modern games that are often implemented to increaese immersion but can cause people to really feel unwell. When I started Vintage story the first time I immediately noticed that my motion sickness is triggered even in the main menu (because of the moving background) and after starting the game I noticed it even more heavily. After playing for 30 min (I forced myself because the game looks interesting) I was out for the day with heavy head aches and general sickness. This happend even with completely turned down camera shake strength and disabled view bobbing as I know both of these triggers motion sickness for me from other games. I looked around a bit here and found a mod which disables some animations that were introduced in 1.19 (I think) here. But I don't know yet if that really helped me because my main issues which triggers my motion sickness are as follows: mouse move smoothing - turning it down completely fixed it immediately for me, this is a major issue for many people with motion sickness as the camera movements with this option don't directly conform with the expected movements that the player does forced camera "movements" when I'm close to dying, to simulate a near death experience I guess - I couldn't find an option to disable this I played some hours today without any issues (besides having fun in the game) but when my char was close to dying the random camera movements immediately triggered motion sickness again and I had to stop playing after. Is there an option to disable this? If not, I don't know if I'm able to play any longer unfortunately.
Maelstrom Posted November 4, 2024 Report Posted November 4, 2024 This mod https://mods.vintagestory.at/accessibilitytweaks should help with the motion sickness. Feature: Camera Movement Allows the user to control the strength of particular camera effects. - Temporal Storm Glitch Strength - Global World Warp Strength - Perception Warp Strength - Camera Shake Strength - Disable Involuntary Mouse Movement - Disable First Person Item Bobbing

Thorfinn Posted November 5, 2024 Report Posted November 5, 2024 (edited) Fair. The reason I asked is the text there sounded as if it got rid of those motions so you would have to use other cues. I didn't even remember there are only two options on that page. If the only thing that you can't resolve is the low-HP camera movement, there is an easy solution -- something that rhymes with "groultices." Edited November 5, 2024 by Thorfinn
