Hammerweld Posted November 9, 2024 Report Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) Being able to upgrade to metal pans that increase panning speed, or drop chance, or yield would be pretty nice. I enjoy panning. It's probably my favorite activity to do when its dark outside, and it scratches the same itch that ol' rod and tackle fishing usually hits. Which is why I'm surprised this hasn't been suggested before (maybe I didn't look hard enough?) but I think it'd be cool if you could upgrade from the wooden pan to different metal pans so that as you advance through the ages, panning is able to stay a bit more relevant. Doesn't need to be a big leap or anything, I know there's mods out there for stuff like an Auto-shifter and sluices, but I would still enjoy being able to spend an evening panning in my custom-built panning zone (Colloquially known as "Pan Land"). If anyone knows of a mod that does this let me know. I've searched for some but all I find are either mods that change the soil/drop tables or add auto-panning technology and that's like, too far out man. LadyWYT Posted November 9, 2024 Report Posted November 9, 2024 Plus having some ore-laden gravel that gives a much higher chance of a gold nugget/silver nugget/precious something when panned would be cool. If said gravel had higher spawn rate in the more northern latitudes too, it would give players more incentive to travel far north and brave the cold, much like purpleheart and ebony provide incentive to travel to the tropics. Given some of the new beasties and other changes coming with 1.20, I would also hazard a guess that panning for copper and other materials might be a bit more attractive in the early stages of the game, since it tends to be less risky than venturing underground or running around the wilds.

By the time I'm ready to hit the road for such an extended trip I wouldn't do it to pan gravel. I would need a unique resource in the destination to warrant a trip of tens of thousands of blocks. 1
