Jan Visagie Posted November 27, 2024 Report Posted November 27, 2024 So I noticed that water source blocks does not propagate under any circumstances. This causes flowing water to be formed when placing a block in the middle of a river and breaking the block, even underwater. The only way this can be remedied atm is by turning on the ability to place source blocks, which is a real shame. This can be overcome by allowing water blocks to propagate e.g. if an air block is surrounded by 3 source blocks of water, it should also be turned into a source block. This mitigates the ugly flowing water in places it shouldn't be without requiring the player to enable an immersion breaking feature that allows you to place source blocks.
Thorfinn Posted November 27, 2024 Report Posted November 27, 2024 Welcome to the forums, @Jan Visagie! That was the way it was supposed to work, and I thought for sure did work a few versions ago. I have not gone back to check, but it's possible something glitched in an update. You are right, though "ugly" isn't my concern, but rather lag. Enough of those flowing water things can really mess up your day. 1

I'm playing in 1.20 pre-13 so it might be a version issue but I don't think so 1
Thorfinn Posted November 27, 2024 Report Posted November 27, 2024 Yeah, I know 1.20 is broken. When someone else mentioned it, I went back to check 1.19, and it was broken then, too. But I could have sworn it worked back in 17 or 16.
Facethief Posted November 29, 2024 Report Posted November 29, 2024 In my current world on 1.20 pre 13, I put water sources on my crops and it waterlogged my farmland, so I guess mileage varies.
Maelstrom Posted November 29, 2024 Report Posted November 29, 2024 Well now, that gets me to thinking... Does waterlogged farmland have a higher moisture content? How to accomplish this before buckets are available? Hmmm....
Facethief Posted November 29, 2024 Report Posted November 29, 2024 I know for a fact that waterlogged farmland has 100% moisture, which certainly has implications on how the moisture system works.
