JAGIELSKI Posted December 24, 2024 Report Posted December 24, 2024 This would be end game gear, and Jonas tech as well to make it rare, but basically the way it would work is that it would produce an exact copy of inserted item (down to the durability/freshness (if perishable) values) while consuming temporal gears as fuel. Additionally, it would not be able to duplicate select items, such as temporal gears, Jonas parts and rusty gears. The exact duplicate part is important as to not make "regular" crafting obsolete - if you want to copy a pristine item, you need a pristine item as a source.

Scorpictorem Posted December 26, 2024 Report Posted December 26, 2024 This is useful for builders. There are things in the game that don't affect the gameplay much. But they are rare. I would like to copy things like the Jonas lamp or these rusty pipes with glowing liquid. I need a lot of them!!! But you can't let people copy tools or armor. It will completely change the gameplay. Instead of looking for iron, people will only look for blue gears. I think this idea is more suitable for a mod than for the base game. And the printer could also be combined with a mod like this: https://mods.vintagestory.at/electricity
LadyWYT Posted December 27, 2024 Report Posted December 27, 2024 I have to agree with @Scorpictorem on this one--it's a much better idea for a mod than it is as an addition to the base game. And as @Bumber already pointed out, it renders a lot of gameplay obsolete, because all you'd have to do is keep a collection of pristine items in a chest and you're set for the rest of the game, once you achieve that tech. I've done similar things with mods in the other block game, and the end result was essentially creative mode with a few restrictions, and not all that fun as a result. Plus in my opinion, having something like a 3-D printer feels very out of place in the game's lore, despite some of the odd tech that the game does allow. I'd also argue that we already have a way to turn gears into pristine items and equipment in the game, and vice versa...they are called traders.
