helve hammers and querns indoors with valid rooms possible?

Is it possible to funnel mechanical power indoors in a way that its considered a valid room? The hole needed for the axle invalidates it and i cant seem to fiddle a way around it. Something vanilla would be preferred but a modded solution would also be acceptable.

Unfortunately that's not possible in Vanilla.

There are two mods which add axels that create a valid room. If you only look for a way to do that, this mod would be enough: https://mods.vintagestory.at/axleinblocks

The machinery, as you've seen, has to be "outside" in the cold. The way around it is to put yourself into a room NEXT to the machines, with an open door or open solid trapdoors to let you reach through and handle things without having to actually go out there. Something like this:
