There's a lot of untapped potential in precious gems and precious metals.

For this reason both goldsmithery and jewellery should be added to the game. What is hiding behind these two terms?

1. Casting and forging golden and silver everyday items (other than plates, f.e. cups)

2. Other copper alloys (mountain copper aka brass, gunmetal)

3. Lost-wax casting - to make higher quality items

4. Multi-part casting molds - to make more sophisticated metal elements and items which are usually made of clay

5. Polishing gems, metal and quartz parts to improve its quality

6. Making jewellery out of polished gems and stones

The other thing which can improve quality of gameplay is oil.

Easy to obtain from flax, rapeseeds, rice brans, pumpkin seeds, peanuts and soybeans. Usable as a fuel, cooking additive or as a grease (mixed with soap).

all im gonna say is, there is a reason why rich people have silver dinnerware instead of gold, gold is poisonous if ingested, so sure golden cups and bowls for display and showing off as display pieces, but if you eat off golden dinnerware long enough you will die

This is flat-out wrong. Rich people literally eat flakes of gold: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edible_gold

They don't go around eating flakes of silver, as silver can turn your skin blue (argyria) just from prolonged touching. Both metals are slightly toxic (gold when injected directly into the bloodstream), but you won't suffer any serious effects from dining off either.

So why no gold dinnerware, then? It's too flimsy. Even silverware is an alloy (sterling silver) because pure silver is even softer than gold. Want something golden? You'd have to use brass, which is for the poors.

I like this mostly but what would the point in doing it be? I mean it's cool 100% for sure, but most jewell items can be found through lore and sifting, although there can be many more designs, unless there's like status bonuses or smth they'd be way too small and a lot of time would go into making all of this for the devs. Tho I love the idea, but I don't think there's really a need to focus on that rn, maybe a future update once the most important things are tackled? Perhaps, but it's a lot of work and it's not enough to be an update alone, not to mention most playtroughs are singleplayer so unless these are sold to NPCs they'd be truly useless. Maybe they can get involved in the lore like you get to a location and it needs an item you sifted but it says its not matching so you need to craft a new one? Then again, adding this entire functionality is a bit too much.

That being said I love the idea and if someone made it as a mod i'd download it and try it!

Vintage story really needs gemstone uses like knives (diamond) decorational pieces, crowns, player crafted jewelry (both for rp and coolnes, maybe even trading)

Also to deaderpan Gold is none toxic unless you do some really weird things to it, it literally would just pass through your body like maize or whatever
