Dunno Wat Im Doin Posted January 16, 2025 Report Posted January 16, 2025 Hey everyone! So I found an awesome procgen feature (posting a screenshot) and I was wondering how one might go about getting a screenshot of me standing in front of it... I found cinematic camera control commands, but I am not sure how to raise the camera to a height and depth that I wanted, or even better, have my character face the camera (aaaargggh!). Is there a mod, keyboard command, or just a cinematic camera tutorial out there that would let me get a good screenshot of this game (that is frankly becoming really beautiful over time)? Any advice would be super appreciated. I'm playing latest release candidate (1.20.rc.9) at the moment in case there's a bleeding edge feature out there someone knows about. If there's nothing good out there I might spend the time myself to try my hand at modding.... (screenshot is a waterfall coming out of a floating island... building my base in this world underneath it)
Thorfinn Posted January 16, 2025 Report Posted January 16, 2025 F5's 3rd person view can't get you the selfie mode you want?

No, can't get the character to face the camera and wanted to adjust the distance further than it can zoom out --- screenshot is from 3rd person view - haha believe me I tried
Solution LadyWYT Posted January 16, 2025 Solution Report Posted January 16, 2025 https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Cinematic_Camera That link might help you figure out the camera controls, though the tool appears to be geared more towards recording videos instead of taking screenshots. For a screenshot, the easiest way to get one by yourself is to hit F5 a couple of times to get to the version of third-person view that does not lock the camera behind your character, adjust the angle however you wish, and hit F12 to take the screenshot after hiding the UI with F4. An alternate method is if you have a friend that plays Vintage Story, allow your friend to join your world and have them play cameraman.

Ah you know what? I did not realize that was what was happening when it seemed to stall in 3rd person - I think this will do it for me - I would love to get the distance further out and if I can't do it I might actually look into making a mod - it might not be that hard to unlock the camera in general. I'm going to mark this as a good answer thank you! 1
