Space6011 Posted January 28, 2025 Report Posted January 28, 2025 I noticed that the weapons have different attack tiers. Are those relevant against enemies, or is it just for determining damage against armored players?
Hexalan Posted January 28, 2025 Report Posted January 28, 2025 All weapons, armors, and mobs have damage tiers. A hit from a higher tier source against a lower tier target will cause more damage due to the armor protection being negated by a certain amount. The https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Armor page has details at the bottom.

If the enemy is not armored then the attack tier of my weapon is less important than the HP damage. For instance a tin bronze falx has an attack tier of 3, but a tin bronze spear has an attack tier of 0. I pretty much ignored the spear because I thought the attack tier would make it a bad choice against drifters, but I haven't been able to verify that.
LadyWYT Posted January 28, 2025 Report Posted January 28, 2025 I don't know that enemies have armor, so much as it is more a case of higher tier enemies being resistant to lower tier attacks. Same general principle as player armor, just a simpler implementation, however, I've not this theory either to see how well it holds true. Generally speaking though, higher tier weapons are also going to be the ones with the highest damage output, so players should also be fine ignoring the tier and going off the raw numbers if they so wish.
