RavenF0xx Posted February 4, 2025 Report Posted February 4, 2025 (edited) I have never used cooking pots for non-foods until 1.20. I have recently been trying to make chromium sulfate. After the first step my pot became residue covered, and the only thing the game says I can't cook in it is food. I tried to make a second batch of sulfuric acid in the same pot but it would not cook. It just used my fuel and the pot stayed cold. So I ended up using three pots for the whole process to make enough chromium sulfate for three hides. There has to be a way to make more without having to constantly make pots. Is there a way to reuse pots for non-foods? Is this just a bug? Edited February 4, 2025 by shannon montes

The idea is you use one pot for cooking non-foods and another one for cooking foods and never mix and match. you should be able to use your residue covered pot to cook non-food items forever. 2
idiomcritter Posted February 4, 2025 Report Posted February 4, 2025 interesting, haven't made sulfuric acid yet. I have made candles, and glue. seems i was able to reuse those pots to continue to remake candles and glue. (checking bug reports for a reported issue... )
RavenF0xx Posted February 4, 2025 Author Report Posted February 4, 2025 I was double checking that it would not cook the sulfuric acid in a residue covered pot, when I checked to see if I could make it in a cooking pot. It would not cook there either, but I made two batches last night with no problem. is my recipe wrong here?
Dilan Rona Posted February 4, 2025 Report Posted February 4, 2025 Used both a clean, and a residue covered cooking pot. And I got sulphiric acid in both cases. So I dont know what happened in your case, other than maybe a mod conflict that overrode the vanilla recipe. 1
RavenF0xx Posted February 4, 2025 Author Report Posted February 4, 2025 I figured out what I am doing wrong. I was accidentaly using crushed chromite in place of saltpeter. So thank you both for your answers. I was not looking closely enough at my ingredients, and now my problem is solved. Making sturdy leather will go so much more smoothly now. 1
