Chuckerton Posted February 7, 2025 Report Posted February 7, 2025 Seeing as theres chiseling, and marble, and these 2 things have been together like peanut butter and jelly historically for a long time, has anyone tried making a marble statue? Of anything. How did it turn out? Did it look good? Did it not? What was it and how big was it? Its kind of hard to look up stuff for this game because its kind of niche, so typing in "Vintage story marble statue" just gets you regular pictures of marble statues instead of marble statues made in this game. 1
xXx_Ape_xXx Posted February 8, 2025 Report Posted February 8, 2025 I've done some chiseling of various statues in different materials, but I believe I only did use marble once, and it's a bit hard to see the details because of how everything blends together with everything being white. Here's a picture of some statues I made on a survival server last year. https://imgur.com/gallery/guardians-of-vault-ANkvLkR 3
Chuckerton Posted February 8, 2025 Author Report Posted February 8, 2025 That was what i was worried about, was details being lost in marble because everything blends together. Maybe polished marble will look better? I want to try making some statues once winter hits. I got some marble for it but i wanted to see how other peoples marble statues turned out before i started, yours look good but i see what you mean about the details blending together

Kind of low-res because chiseling isn't THAT fine, but you've made 'em look good. I'm trying to sculpt a couple guys in robes to put on the wall of my cathedral, and.. well. I am not as good at this as I would like

Huh, so I'm not alone in asking this question. I made a post month ago covering it in "Builds" section, but got no pictures in replies. Currently working on a better and bigger version of it, so might as well share some of the progress I made. second iteration (which I too consider a failure, but I gained some experience at the very least) third iteration (work in progress. I actually finished it, only some finishing work left, including installation and changing granite to marble with QP's Chisel tools) 4

It would look good even from a great distance. Also, lighting is important, try facing statues to the south. I prefer using non-polished blocks as they have universal structure on their edges. Here's a little sneak-pick of how it turned out: 3 1

I think ill stick to a couple bust statues, maybe a model of an animal or something. But, thanks for the advice, ill put it to use when i get started 1
