Emily the commoner Posted February 15, 2025 Report Posted February 15, 2025 I would love to do the whole process of making coffee! I think this would be a great addition to the game. Maybe a couple different kinds of coffees and the way they affect your speed and they also help you be warm during the winter when you go exploring. Also adding tea making with herbs of all kind as well a specific update just to tea and coffee would be amazing. Maybe have tea kettles And coffee pots Of different sorts the make . Â 11
Entaris Posted August 19, 2025 Report Posted August 19, 2025 Necro to updoot, as I just had this thought as well.Â

Katherine K Posted August 20, 2025 Report Posted August 20, 2025 Moka pot could be another craft recipe to use solder and soldering iron. And whenever steam power update arrives, that should come with espresso machines. And I'd absolutely love to have tea pot as a clay recipe. I imagine it working exactly like a cooking pot, but only accepting water in its first slot and limited to maybe 4 portions? I imagine teas being just herbal soups that can take honey and berries in extra slots. You'd still be able to make tea in a cooking pot (or a soup in a tea pot if you want, I suppose) but tea pot would let you pour the contents into the placed bowls, rather than the taking food out of a cooking pot with a bowl. Though, having actual cups in the game might be nice. Could limit the tea pot to just 1L letting you serve 5 200ml cups of tea then? 1
Entaris Posted August 20, 2025 Report Posted August 20, 2025 Personally, I'd just go with some fine-ground straight into a cup, Turkish style. 1
Katherine K Posted August 20, 2025 Report Posted August 20, 2025 Turkish is traditionally made in a cezve, and there's art to heating it up in the hot sand, rather than directly over flames. Though, I've been able to get decent results without the sand - you just have to be way more careful not to overheat the cezve. Point is, you can't just stick it on high heat and wait for water to boil. That won't make a good coffee. You can get a coffee by pouring hot water over grounds in a cup, but you get no real control over the brewing parameters. The steeping time is invariably too long, which means you're going to get all the harsh oils from coffee whether you like them or not (and you probably don't), and even the grounds size doesn't matter that much. It is absolutely the worst way to make coffee, and even limited to primitive technology, I don't see why you'd go for that.
LadyWYT Posted August 21, 2025 Report Posted August 21, 2025 Just make it strong enough to float a horseshoe and then it's done. 2 1

See, I've been gifted with particularly bizarre tastebuds, so while I, too, am particular with my coffee, I somehow enjoy most of the bitter notes up to yet just shy of that "unregulated $10 CoffeeMate 300 degree water for a minute and a half steep" type burny nastiness. I use a kettle wired to just barely boil water.  That and I experiment with additives. Still like it mostly black. Dash of cocoa.  PS: The grind size thing is I don't like feeling like I'm drinking sand. Espresso grind sticks to the sides and bottom of my hourglass-shaped mug, so it stays down there. The bigger stuff floats. Edited August 21, 2025 by Entaris 1
Koobze Posted August 21, 2025 Report Posted August 21, 2025 I mean if we're throwing our dreams in here then I absolutely want to be able to open my own starbucks and make some kind of mocha/cappuccino with maybe marshmallows and cinnamon? I won't drink it since that's way too sweet but it'll look great for my insta I guess. Also let me make chai tea/lattes. Definitely an end-game drink.

Well, chai would require spice/leaf blending, but i don't see why we couldn't do the full range of coffee...uh...mixtures? Yknow, types. However, we all know the true end-game drink would be the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Koobze Posted August 22, 2025 Report Posted August 22, 2025 Nice! I've used the tea mod Make Tea - Vintage Story Mod DB before too, so we're getting there! We just need a mod for the Barista class, the true post-apocalypse survivor.
jaelyn666 Posted August 27, 2025 Report Posted August 27, 2025 I would absolutely love to have coffee plants, they need to be found in the jungle like in real life and only grow in warmer weather and die in the winter like the real plant.
Shoom Posted September 10, 2025 Report Posted September 10, 2025 Coffee would tie in nicely with the mechanics already present in the game and would add some more content to the southern regions. Plant and harvest the coffee plant (mechanically similar to grain) pile it on the ground to let it dry (like bow staves), roast the beans on a campfire, grind them using a quern and then mix water in a pot along with the ground coffee. Drinking coffee could provide a very small satiety gain and maybe a temporary boost to body temperature? Or something a bit silly perhaps like increased mining/tree chopping speed?
Krougal Posted September 10, 2025 Report Posted September 10, 2025 It isn't Turkish coffee unless the spoon stands up when you let go of it. We will also need civets. Kopi luwak FTW! Chai tea always makes me laugh. How about tea tea? or chai chai? Of course that came from Starbucks, who gives you the choice of large in 3 different languages... 1

What's even better is when you work at a not-Starbucks, and a Starbuck regular walks in and orders a Starbucks size, when you yourself aren't familiar with Starbucks terms. 1

I know you're joking, but...I actually someone order like this once . I had to stare for a couple of moments before politely asking for clarification on whether they wanted drink A, or drink B(which was very similar to drink A). It wasn't a Starbucks or Qdoba, but it was still...something.
Tom Cantine Posted September 10, 2025 Report Posted September 10, 2025 I have, on occasion, ordered a "double-double" at somewhere other than a Tim Hortons.  Oh, and besides coffee? The game needs garlic. And butter. Garlic butter. 2
