aWolfSurviving Posted February 23, 2025 Report Posted February 23, 2025 I read on the wiki about rooms and you can only make them a certain size. I had this plan to make a viking longhouse (that's how I build everything I own) and I don't think I can make a longhouse without splitting it up into different little rooms. Unless there's something I'm missing here. I know you can put trapdoors down in a room, so can you leave them permanently open or no? 1
idiomcritter Posted February 23, 2025 Report Posted February 23, 2025 Not sure whats being asked exactly(?) VS rooms when built to spec (wiki), can provide a natural warmth, extend storage life, and act as a greenhouse. A walled in space (of any size) can be well lit, preventing mob spawns, and the walls prevent the wild from entering. So it depends on the wants/needs on how a space is built(?) or a space within a space

Like a massive interior with no breaks or spaces within said space. Are there any negatives to that?
Solution Never Jhonsen Posted February 24, 2025 Solution Report Posted February 24, 2025 When it comes to rooms, the largest you can create is a 14x14x14 cube; this is the inside measurement. Anything bigger and the game won't give it a room benefit 16 hours ago, aWolfSurviving said: I know you can put trapdoors down in a room, so can you leave them permanently open or no? I know you can have some trapdoors/doors on a room, but I think there is a limit of 6 total? Them being open or closed matters not, it will still register as a room 1 hour ago, aWolfSurviving said: if you could make like a warehouse and it still act as being in a building? I wish I'm a massive hoarder ingame, and having a large warehouse as a storage room would be wonderful. Alas, I have to keep them down to 14x spaces. You CAN build multiples of these cubes that share a wall, and put a double door setup betwixt them. I do this with a 2x2 setup of four max-sized rooms, double doors connecting them all. 1

Those links are in what is called a "Forum Signature", which is a little place to tell people about yourself, should you so choose to. You can access this on the Vintage Story forums by: 1. At the top of the page, click on your name and hit "PROFILE" in the drop-down menu. This will take you to your profile page. 2. On your profile page, near the top right corner of your header image, click on "ACCOUNT SETTINGS". 3. On your account settings page, look for "SIGNATURE" in the side menu bar. From there, you can edit it to your hearts content Here is a quick link straight to your ACCOUNT SETTINGS page Also, good luck on your Viking Longhouse!
