RickSanchezC137 Posted March 15, 2025 Report Posted March 15, 2025 Hello, I have an infinite temporal storm. There are no monsters, but it just won’t stop! I tried disabling and re-enabling it with commands, but it didn’t work... I have to disable the storm completely to play normally. Can you help me? thx !!!
Broccoli Clock Posted March 15, 2025 Report Posted March 15, 2025 Sorry, but I don't have an answer for you, more just to say the first question anyone will probably ask is whether you are using mods, some mods do conflict with the temporal storms. Are you using mods?
RickSanchezC137 Posted March 15, 2025 Author Report Posted March 15, 2025 No, I don’t have any mods, this is my first playthrough! I’ve played for over 20 hours so far.
Cetasaya Posted March 15, 2025 Report Posted March 15, 2025 Welcome to the forums and welcome to Vintage Story! I've never heard of this bug. I don't have a concrete solution but... Go to the issue tracker on Vintage Story's main menu (bottom right), it'll take you to github, give as much info as you can. The devs will try to work on it if it's a bug, you could also ask in the VS discord. Sure, its not an immeidate fix but the devs are quick on bugfixes and we get minor updates all the time. You could also backup, delete, then reload the world. Then if that doesnt work, back up your world and user settings and completely reinstall the game. In the meantime, i'd just leave them off as you have been doing for now. Personally, I turn off both storms and rifts and just let them spawn wherever its dark like in minecraft. Sadly. temporal storms dont pose much of a challenge (we can just hunker down and let it pass) nor do they drop any better or more common loot. But of course that's just my personal preference, i'm just saying all this cause youre a new player and you might think you're missing out on loot or something. Its just extra flavor and challenge if you're caught out without any shelter.

I'm several hundreds of hours into the game and I've not had this happen to me, nor have I seen forum posts suggesting it's happening to others. Which is a real shame as you don't want to encounter bugs in your first serious playthrough. I've had a look at the client console commands.. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/List_of_client_commands (and the debug specific stuff: https://wiki.vintagestory.at/List_of_server_commands/debug) ..in hopes of finding one that perhaps controls the temporal storm, but sadly not.

Have you, by any chance, settled in a temporally unstable region? These can occur overground and are permanent. 1 1

Lanceleoghauni Posted March 15, 2025 Report Posted March 15, 2025 That's my thought too, accidentally settling in a temporally unstable region and leaving just enough to avoid taking continuous damage.
Zippy Wonderdust Posted March 16, 2025 Report Posted March 16, 2025 I suppose the acid test, and advice, for that would be "Is the big gear in the bottom center of your screen mostly *not* blue and constantly rotating counter-clockwise? If so, grab all of your stuff and relocate somewhere else on the map where the gear spins the other way (clockwise)". (Once, when I was a wee newb and playing solo in my first world, I took shelter for the night in a tiny dirt hut that I had built earlier. I did not notice that a rift had opened, quite literally, one block behind my hut before I got there! I thought a temporal storm was beginning but it was actually just all of the sanity being sucked out of me by the rift that I was only three blocks from. That "storm" lasted "forever" -- until I finally clued in to what had happened and tried to make a break for it, only to die and respawn back at my main cabin. I imagine the same effect would happen if you set up shop in a map region that is constantly depleting your sanity.) 2
