Exicted to get playing

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to stop by and say how excited I am to be playing this game! Just so happened to stumble across it on YouTube. After watching a few episodes of some lets-play's I just had to make the jump in!

No doubt you'll see more of me as I ask a bunch of questions, here and on the Discord.

Feel free to share your favorite thing about Vintage Story.

My favorite thing?  Seeing new players like you excited about the game.  It reminds me of my newbie excitement 4 years ago.

BTW: welcome to the forums

Fortunately the game does not have as steep a learning curve as in the past.  If you get stuck, check out the guides in the handbook.  Don't be ashamed of burning through some test worlds to get the hang of things (I think I played and deleted a half-dozen worlds learning on the things I needed) and as you mentioned asking for help.  I'd recommend the Discord first as the response will be much quicker than here.

The challenge is great, but that makes the satisfaction of success that much greater!

Thanks so much for sharing that thread. I've found some helpful starter stuff already.

Edit: Any ideas how I can make my signature not so huuuuge? I've shrunk it by 50% at least twice now!

WAIT!  We has signatures here?  huh.    Not that I'd have created one, but did not know about signatures.

and btw - you're welcome about the shout out to my thread.  I thought it would be a good idea given Tyron saying sales increase three-fold in the past few months.

I've got experience with Invision boards, both using and developing for, so turned my signature on when I was creating my account.

It's off by default, which means very few people see it though. However, for others wondering.. top right, look for your name with the drop down arrow, click that and select [Account Settings], the page it displays will have tabbed menu on the left, select [Signature]. From there it will give you the option to enter a signature. Finally in a Captain Obvious moment, you'll need to switch on the "Show other people's signatures alongside their content" option.

Be prepared, I bought the game a month or two ago and I'm easily into my 300th hour.

It's a time sink, a good one, but one none the less.

I play games a lot, pretty much every day for years.

I am retired now so what I am about to say makes more sense.

In 3 months I have skyrocketed my hours played in this game to now being number 3 of most played games of my entire life.

Hello! Welcome!    I just started this January, but there's already been so many amazing updates; it's also been fun looking back at older updates and just how much work the devs put into this game. I really love their dedication to its scope and level of detail; instantly a fan!

Re: feel free to share your fav thing about VS.     It's probably how realistic each of the world/environments are and how that influences the way you play each time you open a new game (and how unforgiving some can be, lol). Also, the sheer number of foods you can make is just fantastic! (In all seriousness though, I love so much about the game it's difficult to just talk about some)

I'm Sorry I quoted the wrong post haha. No doubt you figure it out in the end .

I've played for nearly an hour , started with the tutorial and got a torch just before nightfall. Food worries me, I ate all my mushrooms already in day one. I'm guessing that the tutorial will show me some better access to foods soon.

The tutorials will definitely give you enough info to not just survive but progress.

Stuck for food, the most plentiful and easily attainable food is probably cattail roots. You will need a knife as using your hands only returns the tops, with a knife it becomes a two part process; top, then roots. Create a campfire, place the items into the slot and light the fire.
