IHaveSalt Posted April 22, 2025 Report Posted April 22, 2025 Keep hearing these sounds whenever I'm out and about Sounds exactly like a locust in this video Is it possible to disable this specific sound or turn it down without disabling the ambient sounds? My base is in the forest and has a small pond with these black particles which I think are flies so maybe it's tied to that There is also a slight musical noise contanstly playing that sounds like a mix of wind howling and a flute that's tied to the "Effects Volume Level" that I want to disable Apart from that loving the game so far amazing devs
LadyWYT Posted April 22, 2025 Report Posted April 22, 2025 Welcome to the forums! The noise comes from the ambient bugs added in 1.20, so yes those are crickets/locusts. I don't know which sound setting they're tied to in-game, but you can disable those specific sounds with this mod: https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/22791

The bone flute used to call the tamed elk, the character voicesets, or something else entirely? For the character voices, searching "voice" on the mod DB will net several options for different character voices. As for the bone flute item...outside of making your own mod to change the sound or otherwise finding and deleting that particular sound file, I'm not aware of a fix.
IHaveSalt Posted April 23, 2025 Author Report Posted April 23, 2025 I'm not really sure how else to explain it but its basically music which is always playing and is tied to the Effects Sound Level. Not the Music Level. I'll have a look maybe I will find a mod for this as well. Thanks for the help!

I have a temporal portal next to my base and my gear is at half. Maybe its because of that. If anyone knows a mod to turn this sound off please let me know.

You are most likely living in a temporally unstable area, constantly draining your sanity. That'll create the environmental warning sound you are describing. Moving into a temporally stable area would be the best option. But https://mods.vintagestory.at/accessibilitytweaks does exist. With this mod you can disable any and all sounds. 1
