SubtleOrc Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 I have added a few mods to the game that only seem to take affect on newly generated chunks. I read in a previous thread that you can do this Quote /wgen autogen 0 then: /db prune 16 drop confirm TLDR: This command looks for chunks where the player has distroyed/added 16 blocks. then deletes the rest of the chunks. THIS DOES NOT DELETE THE SEED. Just regens ores and other structures. Is this something I could do to regenerate chunks that I have not modified any blocks in, and would that in effect be the same as exploring newly generated chunks? The mods in question are to add new kind of traders and I would like them to appear not TOO far away from home. (obviously i would take a backup first yadda yadda)
Yerik Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 I tested this a while back using "/db prune 0 drop confirm" and it seemed to regenerate chunks near me, but kept all my buildings, etc. I did notice that I had a trader camp that I had put a fence around stay, but a new one appeared 2 chunks away. And other traders disappeared. I also had some blue clay deposits nearby which I hadn't dug into yet, disappear. (As this was the update that added red clay) I ended up not pruning my chunks, but it made my save file like 2% of what it was, so totally worth it if your save file gets huge. 2
Zane Mordien Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 You can also /wgen regen X , where x is a radius of chunks around you. It completely regens the world in those chunks, but if you aren't near your base or anything you care about, its fine. 1

This is also a nice (if a tad cheaty) way to exchange your 18th clothing trader for your first treasure hunter trader. Be aware that it will also regenerate the surface copper nuggets and wild crops you just collected.

Thorfinn Posted May 29, 2025 Report Posted May 29, 2025 (edited) Worked a version or two ago. You can even stand in the wagon to speed things up a bit. That said, I'd try it in a test game first. Edited May 29, 2025 by Thorfinn

It's not in the exact same location in my experience. I did this in a chunk near an existing trader and it generated another trader. So now I have 2 traders a couple chunks apart. Of course one is a furniture trader so I really just have one trader.
