PanzerPepan Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 Would it be possible for the game creators to give the option to turn off monsters in the world settings? I like building and exploring the world. I don't mind predators like wolves or bears, etc. I hate the new mobs like shivers, bowtorns. The game then stresses me out a lot and I don't enjoy it. I guess I won't be alone. Otherwise the game is perfect. It's the best survival game I know. Thank you!
CastIronFabric Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 I am not for sure but I think Homo Sapiens game mode is exactly that. With that said if you play 'Explorer' they are passive even if you hit them
Maelstrom Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 Set aggression to passive. Mobs (natural and unnatural) will only attack to defend themselves.
Dudeguy_Broman Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 I essentially always set up my game like that. It's a bit unclear and I think they should really clarify how to do this properly, but I am about to start a new world right now so I will write how I set mine up to have no monster. (Animal aggression is a separate function) I generally base my settings on "Wilderness Survival" and tweak from there, you can pick whatever you want, but if you want the random structures to still spawn I would NOT pick homo sapiens. (however it can still be re-enabled, it's the "Lore content" option) Click Customize after choosing your basic setting, and here is how I change my settings with some notes on reasoning; "Player spawn and death" - has no relevant options except for how you want death to affect your current inventory, you probably want to not lose your items if you just wanna chill. "Survival Challenges" -Block Gravity / Cave-ins might be relevant for you, as this decides how blocks act in the world. I usually just turn off Cave-ins. -Prevent liquid source transport by buckets - I usually uncheck this just so I can "Repair" the water if it gets messed up. -Hunger rate - This is up to taste, I usually put it back to 100% -Walk speed - Slightly faster (just for convenience) -Creature Hostility - This is a big change for how animals will interact with you. If you want to REALLY chillax and just explore/build I would turn this off. But it can be nice to have SOME threat out there in the world. -Creature Strength - If you want some threat, but want them to be sort of weak, adjust this. 150% strength usually results in a wolf 2 or 3-hit killing most characters -Food spoilage rate - I put it back to 100%. (again, making this value too low will make a huge portion of the game very mundane) -Tree sapling growth - Can be important if you want to plant new trees. (I put this back to 100%) -TOOL DURABILITY - See, this is where I don't give a sh*t. 400%. MAKE MY TOOLS LAST!!! -Microblock Chiseling - I love this stuff. I set it to "Most cubic blocks" -World map / Color accurate map / Lore content - I enable all of these. "TEMPORAL STABILITY" <<<<<< These are the settings regarding "Monsters" -Temporal Stability - Unchecked -Temporal Storms - Off -Temporal Rifts - Off -Temporal Gear Respawn Uses - Infinite So, the most important part here (for me anyways) is turning off the monsters. I just prefer a more "realistic" world. I usually have Creature hostility set to aggressive and I tune the strength rather than turning them completely off. Also, a sidenote; Mostly all the settings CAN BE CHANGED in a already created world. Just search for "Vintage Story game world settings commands" or something to that effect and you should be able to find the lists of commands available to alter settings. the World Generation tab also has a lot of interesting things you can mess with, but default world gen is fairly sick as is. I tend to set "Landcover" to about 90% and "Landcover Scale" to 75%, just to get a bit of ocean. Also, since I tend to play single player I make the world a little bit smaller, setting "World length/width" to 600k blocks. The last things to note for casual and chill game setup is these last few settings under "World Generation" again, here's how I set it: "Global deposit spawn rate" - 120% "Surface copper deposit frequency" - Rare "Surface tin deposit frequency" - Very Rare I hope it wasn't too lengthy and that it answers your questions. TL;DR: Just look at the settings I provided under "Temporal Stability" to turn off the monsters. Have fun! 1
Dudeguy_Broman Posted May 28, 2025 Report Posted May 28, 2025 Side-note; I remember having an issue with this a while back, and my settings might actually not be enough to completely remove monsters, because I realise I have a dang mod installed. it's called "No Monsters. Really!" Link to the mod: https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/5603
