I was digging for some clay and sand, the blocks were replaced by water but it channels into where the blocks used to be, its not still like the rest of the lake, is there a way to fix this little mistake I created?

Do you mean it has a current? Hard to tell from a still image.

If so, your answer is a Bucket. (wooden boards and twine).

VS is slightly odd with it's water blocks in that placing them counts as a permanent water source (unlike the "other block game"). If there is a "flow" in a square, then facing it with a full bucket of water and pressing [ctrl] and [right click] it should place a full water block in that location and remove the "flow". Repeat as necessary.

What Lunyaru meant was the water filling in the same way that minecraft does. And as Broccoli Clock stated, the only way to fix that is to use a bucket and manually place down water source blocks (if enabled on world), or replace the dug out blocks with something else like dirt.

Since we mentioned the other block game yes, I meant turning all the water currents into source blocks! I still have a long way before getting a bucket, for now I will just ignore that little terraforming abomination I did for a bunch of clay

If you've got creative mode available and are willing to use it, there's a command:

/we pacify-water

which causes all flowing water blocks in a marked area to be replaced by still water. By default it targets fresh water, but you can make it work on salt water by using

/we pacify-water saltwater

instead. To mark an area, you can either use the /we command (read about it in the .chb) or spawn yourself a magic wand.

Does your pacify-water command mean that OP would get air blocks surrounded by water in the lake?

Still water is a water block that doesn't flow. It's also considered a permanent source.

The command replaces flowing water blocks with still ones.
