GoldenRobot Posted June 23, 2025 Report Posted June 23, 2025 Noob Question but what's the Plate Armor/Cuirass Recipe? The In-Game Guide only gives Repair Recipes & the site wiki give nought but the most vague instructions:
Zane Mordien Posted June 23, 2025 Report Posted June 23, 2025 Since you are using a mod, ask on the mod forum. It has changed the handbook view. 1

If you are making plate then you need to make chain armor first. I would turn off the mod then go into a new game and just look in the handbook. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Chain_armor

Thorfinn Posted June 23, 2025 Report Posted June 23, 2025 What people are trying to tell you is that is not vanilla. There is no base recipe for it. You need to ask of Combat Overhaul. In vanilla, you start with a leather jerkin (I think it's called) then add chain to convert it to chain, then add plates to convert it to plate. 1
GoldenRobot Posted June 23, 2025 Author Report Posted June 23, 2025 There's no Plate armor recipes listed or illustrated on the wiki: https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Plate_armor

Gotcha, but I also can't seem to find the vanilla recipe for regular plate either, as evidenced above.
Thorfinn Posted June 23, 2025 Report Posted June 23, 2025 (edited) You can start as early in the production chain as you like, but I'd suggest "body leather jerkin". You see from that you can craft brigandine and chain. Click on chain. You will see chain is the ingredient for scale and plate. If your handbook does not show that, it's probably because Combat Overhaul "overwrote" those entries. I'm pretty sure the vanilla armors no longer exist if you enable Combat Overhaul. Thorfinn Posted June 23, 2025 Report Posted June 23, 2025 BTW, welcome to the forums, @GoldenRobot! I strongly advise not looking too much at the Wiki. The game is too actively being developed for it to remain up-to-date. And most of the editors seem to have realized that, too, as some of it is several versions out-of-date, as in not updated since 1.17 or even 1.16. 1
Solution Zane Mordien Posted June 23, 2025 Solution Report Posted June 23, 2025 45 minutes ago, GoldenRobot said: Gotcha, but I also can't seem to find the vanilla recipe for regular plate either, as evidenced above. If you want to know Vanilla then turn off the mod and load in a new world and look in the handbook. All of the recipes are there. Like Thorfinn said, the Wiki cannot keep up with the changes to the game but the developers do a great job of keeping the handbook up to date. Also as mentioned the mod has changed the handbook so the vanilla recipe is not going to help you anyway. 1
GoldenRobot Posted June 23, 2025 Author Report Posted June 23, 2025 Thanks for the help everybody , & thanks for clarifying the issues with the mod messing with the in-game recipes as well as the wiki's unreliability. Not knowing what the vanilla recipe was was driving me nuts & consequently also made it impossible to do a control test to see which mod was futzing with the recipe 1
