ShadowsEdge Posted June 26, 2025 Report Posted June 26, 2025 Lakes freeze over, I get that. Problem is, in the middle of summer, I'll travel a few hundred blocks away to explore a spot I've been to in winter and there's still a frozen lake. Or chunk of ice. Maybe a simple chunk update to turn ice back into water the moment it is loaded after a time of the year check? 1
DefinitelyWorth Posted June 26, 2025 Report Posted June 26, 2025 Yep, for me lakes are partly frozen as well even though there is at least 30C+. I hope they will fix that eventually.
Never Jhonsen Posted June 26, 2025 Report Posted June 26, 2025 There's a mod that will auto-unfreeze any ice block as the chunk loaded at 4C+, and I tried it out for a bit back in 1.19. Do note however, any time I would get near a medium sized lake or bigger my game would crash. I'm under the impression that the devs are working on the slow melting ice, but it's not a high priority. 1
ShadowsEdge Posted July 9, 2025 Author Report Posted July 9, 2025 Thanks! I got it installed but it is outdated per the database. The whole crashing cause of lake size... ugh. I built my base in the middle of a lake on an island. I hope its not too bad. I also noticed that I built a bridge over water and the water under it doesn't freeze. I think I'll make the suggestion next. Its great that water under trees stays iced cause that makes sense due to it being in the shade. It just looks so... je ne sais quoi. Basically, i could build a platform over a lake and it would never freeze in winter. 1
Cryo Stratos Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 Hello! Is there any way to deal with this issue? Ice doesn't completely melt even in late summer and high temperatures, and despite me regularly being in the chunks. The mod is outdated. Or perhaps is there any command that thaws out all ice in the vicinity?
Zane Mordien Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 This is definitely one of those jank items that needs a fix. 1

A mod made for an older version of the game will sometimes still work just fine on a newer version, although there is no guarantee. It depends on what changed between game versions. In many cases a quick look at the mod's comment section should give you an idea of whether or not it still works, but it's still best to test it out on a fresh world first before trying to add it to a cherished world. 1
