Mesmoros Posted September 9, 2025 Report Posted September 9, 2025 (edited) Wanted an archipelago type world. So got a pretty nice starter island. So much good stuff on it, and some islands close by. Haven't explored much. But try it out if you want, it's pretty good. Seed: -171057458 Landcover: 50% Landcover scale: 300% Edited September 9, 2025 by Mesmoros Better title 7 4 2

Mesmoros Posted September 28, 2025 Author Report Posted September 28, 2025 Found 2 translocators on the island. Some good early access meteorite and iron, and pretty much all the ores to make bronze and a good bit of copper. Quite a few ruins and cave ruins. 2

Yes, the land to the SE**** is big, took me like 2-3 hours to sail around. There is a teleporter that goes to around 1/3 to the south on that island. Also the only place I've found limestone so far. To the north it's a big sea. Edited February 21 by Sashimi

Didn't want to pick the same seed, but I've been on the lookout for a good setting with big oceans (but also not too small islands) to make use of the new boats and this works quite fine. Got a tiny starter island and an enormous continent to the north, that's more than I could have asked for. 1
penthousepuppy Posted February 22 Report Posted February 22 Thank you so much for this! I’ve been hunting for seeds to change up my play style and this is absolutely perfect 1
Mesmoros Posted March 5 Author Report Posted March 5 Update on the island: The translocator close to my base in the pic(Easy to locate) It's a cave that leads into the mountain that has a translocator, it takes you under a huge mountain. There is motherload of copper in a cave NE from the Northern exit. The island has like 2-3 spots of meteoric iron, also more located on the coasts towards south. Bountiful island indeed, full of treasures. 1

Mesmoros Posted June 28 Author Report Posted June 28 Found a motherload of copper. Absoloutely loving the vibes of this game. There was at one point a solar eclipse, which was really unexpected but amazing to see! 1

I thought all that stuff was generated independent of seed.

Not completely. For some resources a heat map is generated from the seed, and that heat map is the same any time that you use that seed. The probability of whether a chunck actually has that resource in it is set by the heat map. Then all of the probabilities for those chunks get rolled randomly. Roughly. But that's why you can use the same seed over and over and not have cassiterite lodes in exactly the same place, especially if you found one in a "dim" area of the heat map where the probability was low. But in a "bright" area of the heatmap you should at least find some nearby. Here is a VS map viewer that you can play with that will make it all clear: https://vintagestory-map.com/?s=AQAAAABgbwy08R5IfA It has some issues- for instance it clearly doesn't display sea level or areas with many small lakes correctly, but it will teach you what I am talking about. Similarly, you will find traders in the same spot, but the type of trader gets randomly rolled, so they will usually be different even with the same seed. Ruins seem to work differently. I have found that that there can be no ruins whatsoever in a spot that had ruins in a prior playthrough of the same seed. Dungeons are the same. Yet ruins at least are likely to be in the same spot- just not always. (This last paragraph is experiential on my part- I'm not entirely sure how the mechanism works.) Edited August 30 by DeanF 1
