My village is missing npcs and a chunks are missing on the minimap

I tried to regenerate the chunks but no npcs are appearing, how do i fix this?

came here to confirm I'm also having this same issue, with 2 more brown chunks than OP. and the story villager is nowhere to be found. seems like based on the github conversation, the problem has been acknowledged as pretty common, though?
