Do animals heal themselves? Specially farm animals like roosters from gen 1 or higher

I have a rooster that fought another one and I fear he's very low and could die from one hit of another rooster, as I want him to fight again (they're gen 1).

Do they heal over time? If not, is there a way for me to heal him?

I believe you would have to move him away from the other rooster. All my older roosters kill newly "minted" roosters as soon as they grow up from chicks. I often find dead roosters in my chicken run.

I'm not sure if they heal, but I hit one of my boars with a spear while I was trying to kill a drifter that got in the pen with them, and that was a long time ago and he hasn't died. The boar wasn't exactly happy with me, though. 🙂

Welcome to the forums! I believe creatures do indeed heal over time, but it's fairly slow. For roosters in particular, @Faithwalker is correct in that the old rooster will fight the young cockerels once they are old enough. In my experience, the old rooster seems to always win, which means he's able to heal from whatever injuries he sustained by the time he needs to fight again.

Otherwise, I don't believe there's a way to directly heal a creature, with the exception of tamed elk--the player can heal them with bandages. If you're wanting to deliberately provoke fights between roosters, I would wait a few days at least before trying to provoke another fight in order to give the victor time to recover.

I was trying to find out too, after hurting a couple of pigs that I ended up trapping later. The answer is yes, they do! It's slow, but a health bar mod I'm using has been increasing every time I check on them :)
