VoidsPuppet Posted January 19 Report Posted January 19 (edited) Hey so I found it kind of weird that we couldn't make just plain wood arrows or even wood Fletching for normal arrows which has been quite the common thing in a survival environment, or generally some more wooden defensive options like making our own palisade to keep wild animals out or hostile creatures. That and the fact that we can't just make a plain old sharpened wooden stick to stab creatures with. Perhaps even the addition of a fishing rod could be good for the gameplay loop. marmarmar34 Posted January 19 Report Posted January 19 Functional palisades would be pretty cool! As for the arrows, I believe the crude arrow recipe is likely the best we're going to get in terms of early projectiles. From a gameplay perspective, crude arrows are already kinda poopy, so making an even weaker variant can feel redundant.

Fishing is already on the menu for 1.22. 1 hour ago, marmarmar34 said: As for the arrows, I believe the crude arrow recipe is likely the best we're going to get in terms of early projectiles. Wooden arrows could do slightly less damage to balance, sure, but if the damage difference is negligible then players are just going skip crude arrows and stick to wooden ones, or skip wood and crude and just stick to flint arrows. Or the player just skips all three options, because at this stage of the game the spear easily outclasses each one. 4 hours ago, VoidsPuppet said: That and the fact that we can't just make a plain old sharpened wooden stick to stab creatures with. You don't really need a sharp wooden stick if you can just stick a sharp rock on the end of a stick and have a better weapon. There is already a "stick" weapon in the game, in the form of the club, and no one uses it due to the spear being much better. 4 hours ago, VoidsPuppet said: generally some more wooden defensive options like making our own palisade to keep wild animals out or hostile creatures. Now these I do expect to see sooner or later.
ThatGuy123 Posted January 19 Report Posted January 19 I think adding pemmican as a easy to make low spoilage food source would be pretty great, though it doesn't have to be too over powered. (if you don't know what it is, here's the Wikipedia link.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pemmican 1
