Ratbatboo Posted February 4 Report Posted February 4 I recognize that there's a complicated programmable 'cinematic camera,' but I'd just like something as simple as a detachable local free camera. Does it exist and I'm missing it?
Thorfinn Posted February 4 Report Posted February 4 I take it you want something more than going into 3rd person mode so you can take a selfie? Use it to explore or something? I think I saw a mod for something like that once, but I wasn't interested.

Because showing character in base photo to friends is slightly more fun than just 'Here is room.' And the back of the character's head is 'meh' as compared to looking-at-viewer. Thorfinn Posted February 4 Report Posted February 4 Yes, you can take a selfie. Just go into 3rd person and move the camera around. It's kind of limited in terms of how far away you can take the selfie (or used to be anyway) but if it works like it used to, your full-size character can easily be made to fill just the middle third of the screenshot. Don't know how much further you can go. Don't know I ever tried.

Pressing F5 once will switch the view to third-person. Pressing F5 again will switch it to "free camera" third-person, in which you can rotate the camera entirely around your character without your character moving in the process. Pressing F5 once more will return you to first person view. If you're wanting a more cinematic camera angle than having your character right in the middle of the screen, you might try one of these mods, but you may or may not get the results you're looking for. Ratbatboo Posted February 5 Author Report Posted February 5 I'd tried the F5 thing before (because of TOBG), and I think what was happening is that my F5 key is having some buttonmashy issues (I checked this with a visual keyboard app so I could see when it registered the button push). So I kept getting into the third-person mode or the first-person mode, but didn't end up in the free camera third person. Weird.
