rsingh592 Posted Thursday at 11:53 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:53 PM Hey all, first ever forum poat for me. I wanted to know what to do in my world before i update the game to 1.22. I know its probably a month before stable release but i wanna get an idea so i can set put to do them. I also wanted to know if theres a chunk regeneration tool like tgere is for minecraft so that the world can be regenerated with the update rules but excluding my base
Solution Forceous Posted Friday at 12:03 AM Solution Report Posted Friday at 12:03 AM (edited) Hello and welcome to the forums! At the moment you just need to backup your 1.21 world, then you can launch the world in the new update with no worries. Edited Friday at 12:03 AM by Forceous

A better solution is to use the world editor tool to save your structures as blueprints, then place them in a brand new world. You may also want to make a list of stored resources, as I'm not sure that chest contents and whatnot are saved in the blueprint.

That is how it has been in the past couple pre releases. They are more for testers to find bugs and not meant to be played as a long game. Save a copy of your world so you can load it back after playing around in 1.22.
Vyh06 Posted Friday at 04:40 AM Report Posted Friday at 04:40 AM I also have a question, will 1.22 world generation-related content not appear in my world when I update it or will the content appear in chunks I haven’t explored yet?

I haven't heard anything that says it will or won't, but in the 1.20 the new content didn't load in unless you started a new game.

Welcome to the forums and the game! Going along with what @Zane Mordien already said, to my knowledge new worldgen content will only appear in new chunks. Old chunks will remain the same, unless you use a command to regenerate them.

Do any chunks that haven't been explored count as new chunks? I don't wanna abandon my world and make a new one for 1.22

I would just wait until stable before you move your long term world to 1.22.
