Heegrim Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 I love the new trader outposts! I have been wanting to be able to build more defensible-looking structures (without going insane chiseling for hours), so these new blocks are perfect. I would also like a full log version (debarked and whittled to a point to place on top of log walls to make them look like a large palisade). I hope the spikes will be able to do a small amount of damage when drifters or players walk into them. In Valheim, the wooden spikes have durability and you have to replace them often so they aren't easily used to make mob grinders. (If y'all can't tell, I frickin' love Valheim and you probably will too if you like Vintage Story. VS is still my GOAT tho, but both games are criminally underrated and need more people talking about them!) 5
Nagahiro Posted Saturday at 11:01 PM Report Posted Saturday at 11:01 PM I love Valheim too, I still construct my VS building with Valheim support beams in mind lol. but for palisades I just make do by chiseling quarter logs, I don't really mind the process, but it is kinda awkward to be chiseling wooden spikes for decorative purposes, instead of hewing and carving stakes with a knife or axe for more practical purposes. angled stakes however, now that's tricky.
LadyWYT Posted Saturday at 11:03 PM Report Posted Saturday at 11:03 PM I'd like these options as well, though I wouldn't want to see Valheim-style raids. I do appreciate what Valheim was going for, but I just don't find the implementation very fun in singleplayer for that game.
ifoz Posted Saturday at 11:33 PM Report Posted Saturday at 11:33 PM (edited) I really hope we get the palisades too, maybe introduced like fences so that you don't need to craft all the corner pieces seperatley. All of the NPC structures in the game now use palisades, and it feels strange that we can't use them as well, given they are shown to be such an important part of survival against the Rust monsters. For actual gameplay I think a decent way of balancing them if they were to do damage would be having enemies attempt not to pathfind over them (like fences), and potentially having the ground-placed wooden stakes break or go blunt after damaging an enemy a few times, so they couldn't be used for mob grinders.
