Jacsmac Posted March 30 Report Posted March 30 I'm very hyped for the next stable release of Vintage Story, and I was wondering if you guys know how to create a really good (or funny or challenging) world with custom world gen settings so I can try out new worlds when the update comes out. I'm also wondering if you know how to get an appreciable number of oceans in the game, as I have only found a single one in my previous survival world and would have loved to be able to use boats more often. 3
Jacsmac Posted March 31 Author Report Posted March 31 I'm going to be trying multiple combinations to see if I can get a good world going. First up is a much lower landcover%, probably something like 80%. Landform scale is going down from 400% for sure, and I might tweak world height and upheaval rate a bit.
Azer Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 If you want your world to have more oceans put your world config on 30% land coverage (bassicaly like our real life earth) . this might seems like too much but I can assure you you'll have way enough land to explore while creating vast oceans too sail across and find cool new lands and islands to discover. sometimes this config can make you spawn on a small island lost at sea so you might consider making a new world or just go with it and make a raft to explore and find a big island/continent to settle on. also I recommand using the continental world mod which greatly improve the world gen with those types of big oceans confings. 1

I you want a challenging world gen try the ~0% land coverage which make it so there is bassicaly only a few islands from there to there to exploit and survive on (this one pretty rough I tested it) I also thought about trying a config changing the tree coverage and putting it to 100% which should make the world be a giant forest and a pain to explore and build aha maybe also try changing surrection and climat settings, you may found things interesting who knows. 1
LadyWYT Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 I tend to play the default world gen, for the most part, as I do enjoy it for the most part. The only setting I consistently change is turning the land coverage down to 80%. This ensures that the map remains mostly land, which I enjoy, while ensuring that there will be several large lakes and oceans to find and make use of in my travels. 2
