ZanChirou Posted Sunday at 02:55 PM Report Posted Sunday at 02:55 PM Hello, so i got this weird problem with game crashing constantly, never had any problem like that before and i was playing just fine the day before crashing started, turned of pc, went to sleep for 5h woke up started game again and nope can't either play single moded not single vanilla nor multiplayer server. So far i got back ability to play on single modded but it took 3 complete reinstallations of the game and some changing in the task scheduler (i think thats how it's in english version) None of the crashes produced any crash log until after first reinstal of the game, which i will post bellow. I had checked if i don't have some outdated drivers as suggested in other posts but nope, all are up to date and hadn't been changed since i played vintage. Thinking it RAM issue i swapped my RAM sticks but got no difference. Now when i try to connecto to the server game either crashes completly on the loading and gets "windows manager not responding" or loads for so long that i just gett message that i was disconected from the server bc of unknown (or sometimes timed out or not being whitelisted) nothing was changed on the server in terms of mod/ip adresses etc since before the crashes and now, and i'm a bit out of ideas. Could maybe any of you got any suggestion or knowledge int his matter? Also yea i can play singleplayer vanilla and modded now but it loads like 2 or 3 times longer than it did literally few days ago without me changing a single thing before reinstalations so i'm confused where the original problem started.
Diff Posted Sunday at 04:05 PM Report Posted Sunday at 04:05 PM Looks like a mod did something it wasn't supposed to. Does this crash still happen if you disable all mods? How about if you disable ComatOverhaul/OverhaulLib specifically?

Well i can't really dissable mods on server and on singleplayer as i said crashes no longer occur but loading takes 2 or 3 times longer no matter if there are mods or if it's vanilla
Diff Posted Sunday at 07:49 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:49 PM Oh, it's not your server? I guess I'd try deleting the downloaded server mods from the VintagestoryData folder, letting it redownload, and seeing if that changes anything. The error log you posted points the blame at OverhaulLib for trying to load assets before the game is ready. What version of OverhaulLib is it?

I second this. If there are multiple versions of the same mod within the server mods folder, it can sometimes cause issues. When a mod updates on the server, the server will prompt download of the updated version, but old versions of mods will need to be deleted manually.

What version of OverhaulLib is it? already done it multiple time, no changes except ones i mentioned before. It's overhaul lib 1.18.3.

Oddly enought there were 2 versions of joust mod but they were there since the server was started. I deleted one of those from modsbyserver file and now literallyy 5s after i click on join server game crashes instantly with no crash log message insteaed of crashing after long load or kicking me with "disconnected due to unknown". Deleted some random mod to see if download will pop up, it did, it downloaded the mod back and the same thing happened. (Oddly enought as well after reinstalling my game multiple times i had to ask people for modpack because it would only download either 126mods or 94mods while we have over 140mods there. ) I'm well quite baffled.
Diff Posted Sunday at 11:51 PM Report Posted Sunday at 11:51 PM Since it's a crash in a specific mod, you might try bringing it up with them. They have active Discord threads for each of their mods in the official Discord server, unfortunately they don't seem to be active here on the forums. There are also a few newer versions than 1.18.3 available for 1.21.4, maybe one of those has already fixed the crash you're running into.

And single player when it all started refused to work as well without this mod nor config files for it. So i highly doubt that specific mod is the reason as 100+ people of which i know like 20 IRL had no such problem for 3 months+ Actually that is why i'm quite confused about it as i had few people look at that already and even suspected RAM to dunno get damaged or someghing but all RAM diagnostics return as everything is as it should be.
ZanChirou Posted yesterday at 01:27 AM Author Report Posted yesterday at 01:27 AM It shows it's connecting to server loading the files etc and just cuts in the moment the game crashes and gives me "windows manager not responding" client-main.log
Diff Posted yesterday at 02:13 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:13 AM V odd. If it's a silent freeze and crash without a word, where did/does the error from the first post appear?

As i said that was the only crash error i ever got, and none crash before this log ever generated nor after no matter how many times i tried and how many times game crashed. I'm starting to think it's a RAM issue, but it baffles me why it would be fine before and suddenly not fine only for this one game.
