p4p0r Posted Saturday at 12:55 PM Report Posted Saturday at 12:55 PM I've been playing this game for some months on my old PC and after upgrading to a new setup with considerably better components, for some reason the game runs worse. My old specs were as follows: Intel i5-2320 Nvidia GTX 660 2GB 16GB DDR3 RAM (don't remember the exact speed) Some random HDD the game was installed on The game could run at a steady 60fps with infrequent drops on medium-low settings with about 256 render distance. Unfortunately I don't have a specific screenshot of the settings I've ran. My new PC specs are: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X AMD RX7600 8GB 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM The game is installed on an SSD Now on my new rig the game can handle all the fancy graphics settings a little better, but any render distance above 200 seems to completely kill the performance. I've took some screenshot to try and demonstrate how the game performs (also note that the framerate shown is when i'm not moving the camera, in actual gameplay it'd not be stable and drop under 60 all the time). Maximum settings, but 160ish render distance: Minimum settings, but 224 or 256 render distance: I have tried to set the Window mode to Maximized borderless, but it didn't change anything. I do not have an integrated GPU, only the RX7600, so I know it's using that. I'd really love to come back to this game but it hurts to be forced to play at such low settings knowing that my PC should definitely be able to handle much more than this. Any kind of advice or answer as to why is this happening will be appreciated.

I notice you're using mods--a modlist would be handy for troubleshooting, since mods can very often cause issues. One thing to check for sure is to make sure the mods you are using are updated properly for 1.22, since 1.22 introduced some code changes and many older mods no longer work correctly.

LordVonSchmellen Posted yesterday at 05:25 AM Report Posted yesterday at 05:25 AM Hey p4p0r, here's a different train of thought from the others who have replied - I have a very, very similar system to you with the exception of more RAM and a heftier GPU with seemingly no issues. Given that you have the Adrenaline overlay up-and-running, I'm going to conclude that your GPU drivers are up-to-date! Here's the thing, Ryzen is fickle when it comes to RAM, so my question is this - Are you running single or dual channel memory? More specifically, how many DIMMs (sticks) are installed in your system? If you have a singular DIMM (one stick), the bad news is that Ryzen really hates single-channel memory. Provided you have multiple DIMMs (two sticks, or very unlikely four) check that your "XMP" or "DOCP" profile in BIOS is actually set to 3200MHz! If all else fails, I have personally seen some wilder stuff on AM4 (CPU Platform) be resolved by updating the BIOS, so I'd give that a whirl after checking the aforementioned things out! P.S. Just run the game on high settings instead of the literal maximum, your RX7600 *will* prefer it that way. Good luck!
Dragonfire613 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago (edited) I have similar issues running an i7-6 core with RTX-2070 8GB, 32GB ram (2x16), installed on fast SSD... the game is almost unplayable and increasingly annoying in intense moments. Running at 45fps and minimal settings makes no difference. I do not have these issues on other high spec games... maybe a few fames dropped here or there but nothing that interferes with gameplay. VS will freeze for a full 2-3 seconds at times before catching up. Frames dropping several times a minute. Seems to be a common issue. Have tried every suggestion I can find online as far as settings, nothing seems to make a difference. This is on vanilla with no mods, singleplayer. The only fix has been to run a server on a second PC, so the hardware duties are split, which has its own undesirable annoyances for essentially single player game.
