EchosofaDreamer Posted July 7 Report Posted July 7 Hey. Hi. Why. Oh my god, went to the Resonance Archives and I can't stop thinking about it. Spoiler 'Claimed by a higher power' Are you kidding me?? Thats actually so terrifying, thanks. Omg. I love this game so much. The implications in that statement are AWFUL. I'm such a baby about things, but I love horror so much. This is great. 1

The "higher power" could be some eldritch Cthulu thing bent on malevolence, creeping into the world. Or it could be some benevolent higher being holding everything together and bringing you, the player, to locations like these so that the evil trying to creep into the world can be defeated. At face value though, it's a clever plot device to keep the player from breaking things and bypassing puzzles. 1

Oh I agree 100%! I'm just a huge baby and the whole "higher power" thing did NOT help my stress levels while exploring the Archives lmao 1
William Unsicker Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 Honestly, when I first saw the "You cannot build here it is claimed by a higher power" message I felt a shiver run down my spine. After I learned more of Vintage Story's lore it has become less scary. Personal theory: The "Higher Power" is Jonas Falx. After all his actions lead to the construction of the underground, and in "Confession" we learn that the people underground treated Jonas like a saint. Also the players' lore is that they were near the Great Machine when it activated, and thus a worker on the project.
