Feltmeow Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 "There is a Time" & "The Whole World Round" by the Dillards always remind me of vintage story
BoglimZero Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 I usually create playlists of 3 different artists/bands who I feel fit the vibe of the game fairly well: Brian Eno (Ambient albums specifically, as well as Apollo) Stars of the Lid (Basically anything they put out works) The Caretaker (Again, any of it, but I only pepper in a few random tracks of theirs typically, as they're a bit out there)

If you listen, you'll understand that i'm far more into the atmospheric, ambient, darker sort of "otherworldly" type of music, but this game, to me, is perfect for that. I prefer to lean into the more mystical aspects of the game, while remaining grounded in some sort of realism, and I like the music to emphasize that. In fact, a lot of this isn't so much "music" as it is different sort of drones and textures, particularly Stars of the Lid. Brian Eno is more traditional based piano music with ambient synthesizers and whatnot. The caretaker is just kind of bizarre. That music is essentially some people who took samples from 20's record albums, and remixed/droned it all out to create a new thing. Apparently their music is supposed to be a representation of an older person suffering from alzheimer's, which is both gut-wrenching and beautiful to me. Some examples of my favorites from each: Brian Eno: Stars of the Lid: The Caretaker:
catcrazies Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 been listening to lezzlebit on youtube while playing these past coupla days, especially their later albums i find pair really nicely with the surface ambience ::]
catcrazies Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 oh, and also some of the "newer" minecraft ost (1.18-1.20) i also found fitting
Vafthrudhnir Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 There was a mod that added TESIV Oblivion's soundtrack to VS. It was great and relaxing and I enjoyed it very much. Sadly, the mod has been discontinued due to copyright stuff.
Zaph42nd Posted July 13 Report Posted July 13 Always thought ambient music or no music at all fits very nicely with VS, namely think dynamic soundtrack would be very nice since the more cheery default music sometimes feels a little out of place when you are being chased by bears... That said, for vocal-forward tracks, I really like more folk/neofolk music since it feels more thematically appropriate given the setting and all
