Map To Treasure Hunter, but no Trader There

World was made on 1.22.3, currently on 1.22.5. Bought a map to a treasure hunter, went to the red X, and there's no trader in sight. Is this just a bug, or are they underground?

Could be a bug, especially if you bought the map on the earlier version and only travelled during the later version.

I've never seen a trader spawn their whole base underground, no. They should be above ground - maybe surrounded by trees, but above ground anyway.

So you have a number of options.

• Wander around on your own until you find another Treasure Hunter. They're not really rare - possibly far apart, maybe, but not rare.
• Spawn one in with commands or with a mod
• Try a "wgen" in those chunks and see if one generates (maybe won't)
• If you just want the map or item they sell, then use Creative to gift it to yourself
• Try buying another map from a different Trader and seeing if  they give you a new location

Is there just no trader there or not even the trader structure?

If it's just the hooman bean missing that's a known bug that sometime, randomly, traders spawn in caves deep underneath their structure and potentially get pummeled to death by the time you load the are in, or not at all. Best solution there is then to actually spawn it in using creative.

Unless it's bugged, I'd recommend looking around the site of the X.

The X is usually never directly on top of where the treasure hunter is, but just somewhere roughly nearby.
