Dilan Rona Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 Joined a server I normally run. And for some reason, no matter what ladder I place, the client hard crashes back to the menu. So I updated from 1.22.3 to 1.22.5, thinking it would solve the problem (similar crashes like that was resolved in the past), only its still hard crashing. Is anyone else having that problem?
Dilan Rona Posted July 26 Author Report Posted July 26 Torch holders, torches. basically anything and everything I right click to place against a wall crashes the client.
Professor Dragon Posted July 28 Report Posted July 28 (edited) EDIT: Ooops. Didn't' see that you ran the server. In this case, create a Copy of the World, run it in Repair Mode, then continue as below. It still sounds like a mod issue, but there could be a corrupted chunk. _ _ _ __ This sounds like a mod issue. Check that your mods are on the servers supported mod list, and the right version. Disable any client mods that you have that aren't on that list or get the right version. If the issue is not at your end, then reach out to the server's support page, or whatever they have. It could be a server side mod/issue. Ask if other people have a similar issue on that server. Be sure to note anything unusual, such as if you are using Linux. See also: https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Troubleshooting_Guide Finally, your own logs (when you start a world, there should be a logs link you can click) might have some information. May be at: %AppData%\VintagestoryData\Logs Professor Dragon. Edited July 28 by Professor Dragon

Try the copy and repair idea then. If that still fails, you can send me a copy of your world save and I'll try loading it and see if I get the same issue. Private message me the save file location link. Only if it is 8GB or less though . . . that's all the hard disk space I have left at most Professor Dragon.
Dilan Rona Posted July 31 Author Report Posted July 31 As I said, its someone elses server (I can give the ip). As for troubleshooting. 1.) Restarted the game (crash on right click placing item) 2.) Restarted the computer (crash on right click placing item) 3.) Removed all client side mods (crash on right click placing item) 4.) Deleted the vintagestory data folder, and tried again (crash on right click placing item) 5.) Uninstalled Vintage Story, deleted everything related for vintage story from the laptop, and reinstalled vintage story from a freshly downloaded full installer. (crash on right click placing item) Unless you can think of any other troubleshooting i could try, I threw everything, including the kitchen sink, and bath tub at that problem. 1
Professor Dragon Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 Silly question time . . . it is just YOU who has this issue on the server? I'm wondering if it is a hardware issue (like the mouse) or O/S issue, as you have eliminated most if not all of the Vintage Story client side software. If it is just you, see if you can get access to a friend's computer, load Vintage Story and access from there with the same issue or not. Or ask the server administrator to try logging on with your credentials. If it is not your server, try contacting the server owner. They can access the server logs. You will likely need the server and client logs to access either of the next two sources. There is a Vintarian Support section on this forum which handles troubleshooting here: https://www.vintagestory.at/forums/forum/15-vintarian-support/ The VS Issue Tracker, which would need the full log set that the server owner can provide is here: https://github.com/anegostudios/VintageStory-Issues I don't know if I can add much more. Havent been on that server in a few days as my usual laptop is in for repairs (At the time the server was still on 1.22.3). Using a backup laptop right now (Windows 10). Thats when the issues started. And by the time I got around to using the backup laptop to connect to that server (by then the server was upgraded to 1.22.5), the crashes occured. Havent been on the server since then as I am still waiting for my usual laptop to finish repairs. Edited July 31 by Dilan Rona
Professor Dragon Posted August 1 Report Posted August 1 (edited) Hello @Dilan Rona I've confirmed your issue. I suggest you reach out to the server administrator. I logged into that server, and placed a single ladder made out of sticks against a wall, in an unclaimed land area. The game immediately crashed. Game Version: v1.22.6 (Stable) with not many client mods. "You were disconnected from this server An action you (or your client) did caused an unhandled exception Back to main menu" The client-main.log had: 1.8.2026 11:12:03 [Error] [Backup] Missing modinfo.json And nothing else of relevance. Thanks, Professor Dragon. Edited August 1 by Professor Dragon
