Femboy_Lover Posted August 13 Report Posted August 13 There is one singular pixel in my map that reads over 6k in height. I go to that spot and, since its winter right now, that spot for some reason does not have any ice on it. Its water. I look up and i dont know if i can see far enough to see of there is a block there, and either way i think it is beyond the height limit...?
Rainbow Fresh Posted August 13 Report Posted August 13 Sounds like a glitch to me. Only thing I can think of is a spoiler for the game's story but that should certainly not be a single block and also certainly not that close to spawn.
Professor Dragon Posted August 13 Report Posted August 13 (edited) See what is there. 1) Switch to Creative (/gm Creative and //gm Survival), increase fly speed (F1 slower, F2 faster) and fly (Space) to see what is there. 2) Copy your World, and see if it is there again. EDIT: Actually, at that distance, teleport would be quicker. /tp 324, 65534, -241 will put you a block next to it. But remember to be flying so you don't fall. I don't recommend the teleport on your main world, just in case it crashes out due to this y-level. (Never tried it). 2.5) EDIT. Try a "/wgen regen 1" if there is nothing of importance there. See if it is rebuilt. 3) If it is there again, then repeat (2) but without Mods enabled (Remember to enable them again before going back to your main world). 4) If it is still there, then by all means, paste your World Seed and a copy of your World Config (see Pencil icon next to world - "Copy to Clipboard) and put them here, and/or put this as a bug to the Issue Tracker. Professor Dragon. I think quoting is replying? Anyhow! I copied the seed to a new world and it is not there. Ill try the other things you said, just one question. If i do /wgen regen will it rebuild that specific chunk? What does that command do exactly... I dont want to ruin my world. yet. Thanks for replying ^ω^
Femboy_Lover Posted August 14 Author Report Posted August 14 Nothing up here(im looking up at the spot)
Femboy_Lover Posted August 14 Author Report Posted August 14 I think ill just put a sign on the spot and call it the anomaly. It gives my world some ~Spice~
Michael Gates Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 yeah, that's a bug. It might be height -2 because binary math, which makes it a PLAUSIBLE sort of bug-- something was supposed to be two blocks down from the surface, and the surface wasn't calculated yet there so it was zero, and ta-dahhhh! 1

Thanks for replying ^ω^ Yes, Quoting is replying I think @Michael Gates has it right, when it comes to the number generation. It is suspiciously close to 2^16 which is 65,536. Anyway, yes, the wgen command given ( "/wgen regen 1") will obliterate everything around that 1 chunk and attempt to replace it. Any player added builds will be lost. CAUTION: This is a one way, destructive process. ALWAYS take a "Backup" of your world before running a "wgen" command, in particular if you are new to this. Having said that, most of the time, it is fine, particular on a small chunk size. Find out more here on the wgen command: https://wiki.vintagestory.at/List_of_server_commands/wgen Professor Dragon. Femboy_Lover Posted August 14 Author Report Posted August 14 thanks for the reply and the help :3 But after seeing that spot countless times from passing by i have decided to make it a landmark in my word, fitting how its near the town center ^ω^ Ill keep it, ive become sentimental over it 1

It became a familar site as I passed along a trade route. I intended to set up a Visitor Information Centre close to it, but moved onto a new world before getting around to it.
Femboy_Lover Posted August 14 Author Report Posted August 14 When winter ends imma send a lil before and after pic... somewhere? I think theres a forum for picture sharing! Feel free to stay tuned~! 1
Femboy_Lover Posted August 16 Author Report Posted August 16 (edited) heyo, i sent the before and after if you wanna check it out~! Edited August 16 by Femboy_Lover typo

Rainbow Fresh Posted August 16 Report Posted August 16 (edited) I, uh... I now have *two* of those. 99.99% sure they weren't there before. Could have something to do with my game crashing 5 minutes ago. How do I safely remove it? EDIT: Actually, it gets worse. Way worse. This in terrain that was already fully generated 200+h ago so something just corrupted the map data. Edited August 16 by Rainbow Fresh

We'd better keep an eye out for that. Might be worth a report to the Issue Tracker, after due diligence is done. I'm going to assume that if you wgen the blocks that they vanish (see above post for instructions). P.D.

Might be worth a report to the Issue Tracker, after due diligence is done. I'm going to assume that if you wgen the blocks that they vanish (see above post for instructions). P.D. I don't necessarily think it's a bug. As I mentioned, my game crashed about 5 minutes earlier. Out of nowhere with the cause making no sense for what I was doing at the time and the mod blamed in the crash log even less but I removed it nonetheless as I wasn't actually using it anyway. So I'm pretty sure it's just on crash map data corruption. I haven't tried wgen as I don't see the need for it - it's obviously just the map data; which is independent from the actual world data that is broken. If wgen also wipes the map data and regenerates it that would fix it yes but I don't want to risk regeneration a couple chunks of 1.21 world on 1.22 close to my base. If no softer "reset" exists I might aswell go snoop around the map data database manually. 1
Rainbow Fresh Posted Monday at 05:28 PM Report Posted Monday at 05:28 PM (edited) So update: So far I could figure out the rain map is fucked for that block. Using /wgen pos height gives me a normal world gen height of 122 but the rain map height is one below the portrayed invalid Y level. That would also explain why OP witnessed no ice forming on that block, as it effectively never snows nor rains there. EDIT: As such also, yes, /wgen regen(k) does fix it. At the cost of regenerating the entire chunk and as such not being viable near any (player) structures. Edited Monday at 05:35 PM by Rainbow Fresh 1

I can't see any similar map issues reported at the Issue Tracker. So let's chalk it up to the crash, as you said.
Rainbow Fresh Posted Tuesday at 06:53 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 06:53 AM (edited) On further investigation, the game's code has a sub-command for the /we (worldedit) suite "rebuildrainmap" that is supposed to regenerate just the rainmap for all loaded chunks. Assuming that is actually available in-game it would be a much safer alternative to full chunk regeneration - though I have had unreliable experience with commands before (e.g. there are supposed to be map command that allow redrawing your map for every loaded chunk but in-game that command does not exist) and I have not used worldedit before so take that with healthy restraint of excitement.
