my house gets a house icon top left but so does my cellar directly below.  I put the cobble slate block back and both have cellar icons.  How do I have the house get a house icon and my cellar get a cellar icon?  I tried the debug rooms hi and everything is green.  The roof is thatch and the windows are plain glass slabs on the inside.

A room is any fully enclosed space of maximum 14x14x14 blocks dimension.

A cellar is a fully enclosed space of maximum 7x7x7 dimensions with, I assume, an overall negative cooling score.

I have no idea what the criteria for your HUD mod are to display either icon, but any cellar is a room, but better. It means things stay fresh longer while a room just... Makes you not freeze to death in winter. Your house being built out of stone makes all the walls certify for a cellar. Hence both your levels, I assume within 7x7x7 or 9x7x7 max 150 blocks restrictions, count as cellar. Remove one floor block and both rooms are connected, being bigger than that and only classifying as a single "room".

Thanks.  So even if my house has the cellar icon with some nice fire I'll be okay in Winter?

You don't even need the fire. As long as the space qualifies as some sort of room, you won't get colder while inside and will slowly warm up, regardless of whether or not there's a heat source nearby. Though building a fire does mean you'll warm up faster.

Nice description.

Knock out the bottom ladder you have highlighted in the first image, and replace it with a solid trapdoor of any material.
Then both rooms will get the cellar icon. You won't even need to have the trapdoor closed, under the default game settings.

Thank you but I have tons of aged wood 😀  I'm doing 20 day months so I thought I'd better stack up!  Thanks for your help!

I've put another cobble slate block there and all is fine.  Thank you for your help.
