"Giraffics Interchange Format"

They have giraffes at our zoo you can interchange lettuce with for $2.00 a bunch. It's a really good format. The giraffes like it, the zookeepers like it, and I like it. I think they would like JIF too.

I can doxx myself to prove my credentials because I like to do so and have done so at least 6 times in the last year, but I'd like to know if you have some credentials to back up anything you say other than pure unadulterated vibes?

Not interested in your paper but post your GitHub, you working on anything cool on your own time?

I think there's some glue left on those bones judging by the current state of the thread. You want my baseball bat?

The lettuce is the cheapest food available at the zoo, well besides the goat feed but that stuff makes my mouth really dry.

I feel like I have left out some important information. If you have ever seen the Disney movie "Lady and the Tramp" the scene where they are sharing spaghetti and get the same noodle, be aware if you try your lettuce this way with a giraffe, they have really really long tounges .  I mean two reallys too!

A friend told me this and I trust him.

They're not gonna rid of Maltiez and they're going to count on this all blowing over. If you have an ethical concern with him its best to cut your losses, uninstall your VS and go play literally anything else. Zomboid is a great basebuilder option if you need that itch scratched.

Values have fallen where they will and as disappointing as it is, time to pack it up. In any other industry position involving coding and whether or not the coder at hand is an ideological liability in the form of adding and hiding function "because it was right" they'd have been fired and unable to use the place as a reference. At Anego, no big deal.

Not much else to be said than that. They've made their bed and if you're not happy to lay in it, don't lay in it and don't shill another friend into it again. I never will and are still looking for closure setting down a game I'm invested in because of the principle that has been violated in grand, unapologetic manner by the coder in question.

My own resolution is to accept when I want to gratuitously grief MP servers, I have this game sitting freely accessible from now on. I don't want a refund and I'm okay getting permabanned, it's just a stress squeeze that feels really good to squeeze now. When I want to play a game for the gameplay instead of protest and spite, I'll play something other than VS. VS is for griefing. Light a fire where you shouldn't, burn the forest next to someone down if land is claimed, cover clay and peat with dirt, deprive the local area of vital resources- pick up all the surface chunks so nobody else can find them starting out. Fresher the server the better. It's easier to do longterm landscape and resource damage than it is to fix the problem once it has already been done without a backup. Enjoy your stress squeeze. Kite bears to a new player's area and wait for messages in the chat about it. Pile firewood high enough ut tumbles into a player claim. Light it. Burn their house down. Get real good at speed running the story and do it before anyone else can. Blockoverlay and a musket is your friend for such a route. The game is already so high investment and demanding that these are real bad-day creators. Protest, in your own way if it fulfills you and grants you mirth so long as you don't lie to yourself about the mirth.

I only have a Bachelor's, was planning on pivoting to architecture in grad school, and, as of this moment, I am not working on any projects. All of the ones I did post on github were tied to my university gmail account that I no longer have access to since I graduated in 2020. I do have plans to begin creating a couple of QoL mods for this game, though. Primarily for my own personal use since I want to uninstall the mods I am using for this purpose one day. Unlike uni I now have infinite free time to read the API at my leisure and modding is just about the only thing I was actually passionate about while going to school aside from UX Design/FE.

The field of Computer Science is incredibly broad, but the first thing you learn is that coding isn't rocket science as long as you actually read the documentation front to back before you ever start typing.

Your last paragraph made me lose all faith that you were being serious, but I will say this one thing; if you are playing a single game that uses Vanguard or using a Windows PC instead of Linux, then I have terrible news. The first is a kernel level anticheat that Riot never discloses is actually doing this when you install their games. Very bad if you care about cybersecurity. Windows is literally one of the least secure OS on the market lol. Their customer bases eclipse Vintage Story by orders of magnitude, though.

Big Tech also regularly employs hackers to improve cybersecurity because tossing money at a troll who is obsessed with breaking your product is better than relying on individuals with good morals who will never attempt half of the things they do to commit those sorts of crimes. Anego knew about his anticheat well before we did and I trust their judgement more than I trust some randos on the internet whose playbook consists of moral grandstanding and virtue signaling that is really nothing more than crying like an infant to make their fees fees stop hurting LMAO.

Ethics? Don't need it. Data? Much better. Statistics? Even better.

Really? Because the first thing I learned was READ THE SYLLABUS. 🤣

Ahh yes. I spend $45k of the government's money for a piece of paper that tells me and others that we know more about a certain field of science than others who didn't decide to do that very same thing. Therefore, "I'm so much smarter and holier than thou" for simply trying to stop others from spouting lies based on their lack of understanding of the field of science I paid money I didn't even have for the privilege to learn... A field of science that is one of the most difficult branches of math once you get past the code monkey phase and into the real nitty gritty of what it is we are actually supposed to be doing...

Like you, I wish people would take the time to inform themselves before commenting. My point was that you're being very rude. I understand it must be frustrating to argue with people less knowledgeable on a topic than you are, but you could do to be more civil about it.

Not sure what you mean. I haven't been involved in this thread before now and haven't shared my opinion on Maltiez or the main subject of this drama. I think people in this discussion are getting too caught up in the idea that this is some sort of war they need to pick a "side" on and "win" by browbeating the enemy side into submission. Please remember everyone that there's always another human being on the other side of the screen.
