Decorem Posted September 23 Report Posted September 23 I am currently working on making a design for a "Started Base" in my new LP world. (Not Finished) I really like the idea of the big layered decks but I cannot land on a wood for the main deck. Currently it is half oak half maple. The rest of the house is oak but I am not sold on the main deck also being oak. At the same time I cannot find anything that looks right. Ideally it is somewhat of an easy block to obtain. Any Ideas? I have also thrown the idea of replacing it with dirt and a retaining wall but I do want to keep the deck. Attached is the inspiration photo. 5
Kreeate Posted September 23 Report Posted September 23 (edited) Personally I'd go with Kapok. Although Maple is pretty close to the reference in my opinion. I think you can buy the Kapok seeds from some of the agriculture traders. The build looks great so far. Will be majestic once it's finished I'm sure. Zahariax Posted September 25 Report Posted September 25 (edited) Kapok is the best wood when you want something somewhat "neutral" that blends with almost everything. I suggest you use Kapok for the deck and birch for the railings, or oak if you want continuity. Cool idea btw. Edited September 25 by Zahariax 1
